Farm chatter

Pics
Oh man. That stinks. I was worried that our cats would eat our bantams, but two d'Anver roosters decided they were going to stalk and then attack the cats once. The cats have left the full-grown chickens again. I still keep them away from the chicks though.
I was certainly wasn't happy about it. Neither was she. I bought her a replacement this year.

Do barn cats just magically appear in whenever there's a barn, or do you put them there?
I"m used to nice gifts from the felines- my non barn cat loves to leave us chipmunks.
I adopted all of my barn cats (I have 4). The two kittens were from a farm near me where they were born, and the other two were adopted from a shelter. I got them for rodent control, because just the presence of cats keeps rodents away (it works, never seen a rodent or rodent droppings in the barn). They used to be able to go outside, but now they live in the barn full time. My oldest Fern went across the road too many times, and my neighbor across the street trapped her and took her to the shelter, without even telling us she was bothering him. All the cats now stay in the barn because we can't risk them getting trapped by my neighbor. We do take them on walks on leash.

More pictures!

They are a bonded pair, mom and son. Bonded pairs of barn cats seem to work really well, because they wont want to leave each other. The kittens are also bonded to each other.

Bantam cochins are soooo cute! You're lucky to have a sweet boy!
Your cats are beautiful- I LOVE their coloring, and they look so soft! How long have you had them?
Barn kittens are sO CUTE- how do barn cats work? Do they just....hang out in the barn? How's that work?
I"m sensing you have a lot of bantam cochins..what's your favorite coloring with them? I really like blue.
Your ducks are beautiful!!! I didn't know about black swedish....stunning. I've always loved the blue swedish, but the black ones are amazing.
I do have a lot of bantam cochins.... I just love them! My favorite color is gold partridge.

I've had Pie for 6 years, Merc for 2 years, Fern and Felix (my other 2 barn cats) for 1 year, and the kittens for a few months. Merc is super soft, he's a total floof!

Swedish ducks are great! They are huge though, Sitka, my Black Swedish is massive. They lay a lot eggs too. I also love the blues.

Bantam cochins are some of the best chickens out there, IMO. I don't have any and haven't met any, but my logic goes like this: Large fowl cochins are beachball chickens. What could be better than a beachball chicken? A TINY beachball chicken!!! My favorite is probably blue, or blue splash.

You're so lucky all your cats get along! My cat likes to fight with the neighborhood cats, so we can't even try to get another one now. Are any of yours pure bred or are they all mixes of some sort?

Do swedish ducks have personalities? I've seen others on here say that pekins don't really have much personality compared to others.

Which are your favorite eggs? Quail, chicken, duck, (any other birds that you have that you eat their eggs)?

This is the most accurate description ever. XD I LOVE IT!
