Could you tell me black_cat how you do a poll
You can only do one on your own threads, but you go to this button:

This thread that I'm using as an example is too old to actually make one, but usually under 'More options' there's a 'Create Poll' button. That takes you to a thing where you can make the the poll.

I forgot about guineas!!!! They're so beautiful!!!! *adds to the perpetually growing list of fantasy pets*
Your quail is so handsome!! I love his little floof on his head.
The ferrets are ADORABLE!! They seem like so much fun. I was interested in ferrets for a while, but they seem kind of messy, and I've also heard that they have very short lifespans, which might be a bit hard on me.
I love your rabbit! So floofy! Her coloring is beautiful. How do you keep your rabbits? I think that if I got one, I'd rabbit proof a room and give it free range of that room.
Hamster- SO. CUTE! I love her name. She looks so cozy, all cuddled up in her little bco!
You just made me so jealous- you managed to pick some of my favorite colorings of chickens  Partridge is a totally underrated color, IMO. The dark browns with that subtle pattern on each feather looks amazing! and DON"T get me started on BLRWs. They. are. Gorgeous! What are your girls' names?
Your quail chicks are so cute and tiny!!!! I think I might need some. What do you do with extra male quail? I know that you can't get them vent sexed because they're so small. How do quail work?
Avery is amazing!! Tell her I say happy birthday. Does she like swimming?
Sorry I'm just seeing this! Yes, guineas are awesome. I love mine. She was noisy as a baby but gradually settled down when she started laying. She is a great layer, more reliable than any of the hens. I got 3 eggs from her in one day once. She's kinda crazy like that.
The ferrets are awesome. However, they poop everywhere. Ours are both 7 years old right now, and blind and partially deaf. One aged better than the other, lol. I think 8 is common for them. My one friend has like 15 of them, and some of their's have gotten pretty old. One was 11. They have much longer lifespans than hamsters. They're so messy though, I think keeping them in a glass box like pet stores have would be the best option. 😂
He's so cute and fuzzy. His name is Puff. He's actually my sister's. I have an albino one, and he's cute, but not as fluffy. And he has red eyes..... Lol. I like Puff better, but mines cute too. We've played around with enclosures for the 6 years we've had them. They're currently in this.

It's quite the mess. My sister and brother take care of them, and they're not the best at cleaning. And I seriously think they must have some kind of party at night, because every morning there's poop everywhere. Their cage is in the 3 seasons right now. In the winter, we move them to the basement in this cage. (Yes, it doubles as a chick brooder, lol)

A room would be great to keep them in, but I don't think mom would like that very much...lol.
I love her too. That was the box I brought her home in. We have 3, they're so funny.
I love those colors too! BBS, Partridge, penciled, and laced are my favorites. I like Columbian coloring quite a bit too, that's what all of this past years chicks were. The cochin was one of my favorites. She was so big and fluffy. She unfortunately passed away a few months ago. Idk what happened. I found her out in the run one night and she was gone. It was so sad. I have her 2 sons from spring, I wish she would have had a girl though. My sister was pretty upset, she was technically her's. Last year I ordered a BLRW, a SS, and a PC from Meyer. The SS had some sort of growth problem, and then the PC died. My sweet Bella is the only one left now. I currently have 1 SLW, 1 Black Australorp, 1 BLRW, 1 barred rock (a rescue), 1 mixed breed hen (SLW X Bielefelder), 8 mixed breed chicks from this year, 1 guinea, and 1 Buff Brahma bantam rooster. I love all of my chickens.
Grace was the Partridge Cochin, and the BLRW is Bella. She went broody and hatched 5 babies at just 8 months old. She had only been laying for a few weeks before she went broody. She was a great mama, and hatched 5 chicks.
I love the quail. They're so sweet. I've only ever had Bobwhites, and I've only had them for 1 year. But they're great. I haven't really encountered the extra male problem yet, but I have the perfect ratio right now so I probably won't hatch any more for a while. I wouldn't be afraid to eat some if I had a lot of extras, but I've never culled one of my birds before... I can't legally sell any without a permit, so I'm not sure. I was thinking about trying a bachelor flock though. This is my quail coop. They're all coveyed up for the winter now so I haven't had any problems. I scored it for very cheap on a FB rummage site and painted it. It's been really good.

I have had 99.5% accuracy vent sexing my bobs as day olds. If you're very gentle and know what you're looking at, it's great. I currently have 6 cocks and 6 hens. I have 3 babies away as week olds when I hatched in the Spring to a friend because I wanted the 5 maled and females to grow up together. I had hatched 5 males and 8 females, so I knew I only had to give away 3 girls. My quail are great. Mine are very friendly and can be held, which isn't typical for Bobs. But I've spent a lot of time with them. They have pretty difficult space requirements during breeding season, which is pretty much all year except for winter, but as long as each pair is in its own cage they're fine. Just, once they do pair up, do not pair them up wrong when you split them up! They get very upset, lol. So I put colored zipties on the legs of my pairs. I decide which cock and hen I want together, and then house them together the first spring so they pair up. One pair has pink zip ties, the other blue, then green, then yellow, then purple, etc. It works really well. The wire rabbit cages people use for show rabbits work great for pairs in breeding season. Coturnix are probably very different, but this is what I've learned about Bobwhites.
Avery is an awesome puppy. Swimming is her favorite. I've trained her pretty well, so she's taking a break for winter. The pic of her all wet was taken on her birthday, I took her to do her favorite thing for her special day. Play fetch with a bumper in the water. She's a good girl. I used the book Family Dog by Richard Wolters to train her. It was the easiest and best training book I've ever read. It shows in her too. I would reccomend it to any one getting a puppy or dog. It's full of great info. I told her Happy Birthday from you! Anyway, I see I've written quite the novel.
Wow...... I'm still scrolling through it. Sorry. Lol

There's so much here that I'm responding in chunks, starting with quail.
I had always assumed that I would get coturnix quail, probably because they seem to be most common and I don't know much about other quail breeds. Do they bobwhites pair up on their own, or do you pick the pairs? How do you pick? I had thought that you can't vent sex quail because batam chicks are considered too small to be vent sexed, and quail are even smaller.
I love the setup you have for them!! It's so cute!! For that inside house bit, is it just straw? I bet they loove having the grass to play in.

I would think the same too, but if you look in the quail section, it talks a lot about vent sexing, something to do with little bumps and foam. I've never had quail or looked into them, so take this with a grain of salt, and if someone more experienced comes along, listen to them. ;)

Looking in the quail section........I swear, my brain doesn't like to think of obvious ideas to learn about things  Thanks for reminding me that there's a quail section...oh god I'm laughing so hard right now
