On another note - how does one fix broken ankles on a quail? It doesn’t seem to be a quality of life issue. They’ve been that way for over a year.

Post a pic maybe? How did it happen? How long ago did it happen? It might be too far gone. Setting bird bones is hard.

Could you take pictures of the legs? If they’ve been that way for over a year, I’m afraid it would be difficult, if at all possible to fix them.

She got out and was found with broken ankles and a hole in her chest in the neighbor’s yard. She recovered well. It happened about a year ago.

Oh, I missed that part. I don't think there's much you could do for it now, unless you wanted to amputate it, but if she's fine right now I would definitely leave it.
