we've got a pair of pyr/anatolian shepard/kangal cross pups. at 5 months, they're living with the goats and we're introducing birds (this is going quite easily). it does take supervision and a bit of training to teach them proper behavior (what cannot be chased or played rough with) but young as they are, they're showing all the signs of doing what they're bred to do - live with and protect livestock.
if what you're looking for is guard and protect livestock, the LGD breeds are hard wired for it so training them for the specific details is not difficult. another dog *may* do it naturally, or may be trained to do it, but I'm a big fan of using an animal's inbred behavior as much as possible.
