Farm Innovators 4250 Temp and Humidity Experiment

I have this unit too! Here's what I've noticed. Yes, there is significant variation between the top (by heater/fan) and the bottom. However the longer it runs without being opened and the more eggs you have in there the more stable the temp. It will also spike in a heartbeat if anything happens to the temperature sensor. Watch out for that.

Another helpful hint is to position the eggs under the fan/heater first. Then radiating out from that. The turner has like 41 spots for eggs. But it's really only capable of heating half that consistent at the correct temperature.

I've had many hatches in this. As will you. It's a good unit for the price. Mine was about $110 out the door. I liked it so much I got their still air version to use as a hatcher. That was under $50 shipped.

Thanks for the feedback! Maybe the next part of the experiment would be to place a turner full of eggs in it?

Mine, with a box of quail rails, was just over $300. I would have paid about any price for one though as I had been begging all of the feed stores in town for an incubator for SEVERAL YEARS. Ordering on amazon (et al) isn't a viable option because a) you pay for the item from the vendor up front to deliver it to a United States address (I have a credit card from the States still), then b) pre-alert my shipping company that I have a package coming and pay for delivery via your private shipper from that US-based address, based on weight AND VALUE of the item shipped (yes, they get away with that!) then c) You wait while customs determines if they're going to allow it into the country or not AND if so, how much duty you owe on it... they'd call it electronics (highest tax bracket, as it does have that thermometer/hygrometer on it) so you basically double the cost of the item PLUS shipping costs (yes they tax you on shipping at the highest rate possible) and providing that it doesn't get lost in the up to one month customs shuffle d) you pray that the shipping company vendors on this side of the border actually deliver it to the store for you to go pick up, and inform you of same, and then e) I call a taxi and have them take me to the shipping company and back, cost of $15 to $20 for the round trip if there's not much waiting time. Of all of the things that I miss from the States, I miss competitive prices and the assurance that once paid for, I'll get my order in a timely fashion without dancing through burning hoops to get it done.

Um...can you move back?

So I put the turner in an hour ago and this is what it's reading now. Note that #3 is next to the turner motor.

Looks good. Is your #3 sensor next to the turner motor? That thing gets HOT! I commend you for taking this on. I did something similar and the inconsistencies between thermometers drove me crazy. Seriously couldn't handle it. For me 1 good thermometer strategically placed is all I need. I look forward to following your hatch. It'll be a fun one to watch. How many eggs will you be setting?
