Salt of the Earth Farm, when my DH and I were married, the priest said we were the salt of the earth. It stuck. Sometimes I hear other farm names and wish I was witty enough to think of that.
Ours is called "Funny Farm".We got a yard banner from my wife's parents that says" Welcome to the funny farm" with a pig, horse, cow and chicken in front of a barn and all of them are smiling with cheesy toothed smiles.
But still, plenty of things that go on here to call it a "Funny Farm" none the less.
Day5Farm
Because on the 5th day God created chickens!
And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
Ours is Hawks Haven Farm because we have a LOAD of hawks around here and can't do anything about it because they are protected.
We figured we may as well utilize them in some way.
When I was growing up, we called our farm "Valleycrest" because we were situated on a ridge overlooking a small river. Right after college I rented a small barn in a little depression surrounded by brush and called it "Sylvandell", the place constantly flooded and never caught a breeze. Ah, the pomposity of youth!
Now I live in the city, and I just call the farm "Backyard".
