I should just sit on them myself...can't sleep worrying about the darn things...

Hahaha...and you think you could sleep better like that?!?

Glory girl made the feeding rounds with me today

She wasn't really into the whole 'working' thing though. She just wanted to play...

The turkeys and ducks were our first stop:

No Glory, Persephone can't throw the stick for you.

Next up were the goats. These two are our resident comedians. Mr. E and Nanny Boo-Boo.

After playing a few rounds of "king of the hill", the dog and goats went with me to feed the deer and visit the Big Coop.

These are some of the "big kids". White Marans, Blue Splash Marans, SL Wyandotte, Buff Orp, Black Australorp, among others not shown.

A few of the Little Kids: SL Polish, BC Marans, Ameraucana, Sultans, among others not shown.

More of the Little Kids up front, Big Kids in the background.

And on to the horses...the skinny old man up front is named Duck. He's sort of a rescue
I guess. He was in this shape when we bought him from a college kid that didn't have the
time or inclination to take care of him. He fights hard for every pound gained. Such a sweet
old guy.

My daughter's horse, Fancy.

And this is nosy old Patch! Ok, he's not old at all, but my goodness! He's always
got to be right up in everyone's business!!

After feeding horses, it was the baby turkeys and Cream Legbar chicks turn to get fed.
On the way there, I walked through all of the fruit trees to see what I could see....

Peaches are looking good! Nectarines aren't quite as far along, but they are growing.

The olive tree has beautiful flowers on it right now.

The tangerines still have a ways to go. The grapefruits and mandarins are about the same
size. And the fig are about 1/2 way to full size.

I didn't find fruit on the avocado, papaya, plum, banana, or apricot trees yet. But I did
see the corn growing out really nicely when I moved on from the orchard to the garden.

I didn't take any other garden pictures today. I got sidetracked feeding the baby birds that
are still in the garden brooders pieces of squash. Then I had to spend time harvesting, so
my photo's ended with the corn.

Walking by the pond earlier, I did stop to enjoy the huge sunflower patch growing along the bank.
These guys are way taller than me. The goats and dog and I had fun walking through them, making
paths here and there. It's kinda like a cornfield, but with flowers. lol.

So after all of that, pretty much most of my day was gone. Which is kinda too bad. It
was a good day.

Thank you for taking the time to share your day with us!! Absolutely beautiful! Glory looks like a great companion even if she doesn't worry about the chores very much...

I wish we had some of your early spring so our trees could be as far along as yours... but I guess that is the trade off for not having to endure the 100 degrees + days through the summer.

The flowering olive tree is absolutely gorgeous, Would love to see the tree in full bloom!

I wish we had sunflower fields growing like that around here, I could imagine me and the dogs playing there for hours!

That looks like a big kitty in the first picture!

Mine are so small. And fat.

Love the puppy.

What kind is he/she?

The cat Rocco is long and lanky... we found him along the roadside late one fall, he was maybe 4 or 5 wks old and sick and starving... we didn't even think he would live the night, let alone thrive like he did. He does tend to think he is a dog though, since he was raised more by our dogs than the other cats (he had to be isolated from our other cats for 4+ wks due to his illnesses and meds when he was first brought home)
Rocco goes to camp with us, he wears a harness and leash and travels with the dogs in the back seat... when he sees us packing for trips he crawls into the bag and won't get out till we put him in the vehicle!

The puppy is Dillon, he is a pure English Shepherd (also known as an Old Fashioned Farm Collie) He is 12 wks old and having a blast learning anything he can from Mindy... she is the shaggy Sable dog in the other pics, in fact, Mindy is his Great Aunt... they are from the same sheep farm in NY.

Rocco is one lucky cat!
I had a cat when I was young, that would get in my bag when I was packing. lol I would have taken him with me to go places if I could have. He also loved wearing a harness and going outside. One of my current cats also likes to go outside with her harness.

Thank you for the lovely comment! The olive tree gets completely covered in blooms and is really striking. It's just now starting to bloom, so there's not so many yet. I'll post a picture when it puts on more flowers. And yes, the sunflower fields are lots of fun...at least this grown woman, an old dog, and 2 young goats think so!!

CC, Rocco and Mindy at nap time...

Mindy and a visiting friend discussing the recent snowfall and it's affect on their fetch zone!

our favorite way to spend an evening on Lake Erie

Collecting firewood for the pot belly stove...

Rocco offering me assistance while I am down in the well tank working on the pump...

Our cat Tanc, making sure there are no chipmunks hiding in the woodpile.

Rocco helping to supervising the making of garlands... but he fell asleep on the job!

Not my farm, but a relatives... I love barns!

I will look forward to seeing the tree in full bloom! Hopefully the weather cooperates for you and doesn't knock the flowers off early with wind or rain...
And would love to see more pics of the adventures in the sunflower fields! I love the country photos, and I am a firm believer in the fact that one of the most appealing things about living closer to nature is the fact that we learn how to enjoy it... and our 'down time' may not seem very entertaining to the massess, but I wouldn't trade it for the world! An afternoon spent enjoying time spent with our animals or just soaking in the peace of our surroundings does this lady's heart a world of good! I can get appreciate that same feeling when looking at many of the photos on this thread, they aren't just 'pretty pictures'... they are scenes of things that give the photographer pleasure or peace... and it shows through. That is what makes these pictures special.
