Oh, cool! How many days do you have left?

To be honest, I have about 21 days after UPS brings me a new one that I order in the future and have made sure it is going good....

. Won't have had any chicks until then hatch....lol. Ol' whitey there is loud, pulls to the right and uses oil, but we are going to try it...hehe...

. I put them in this morning. I don't have it to where it will keep a constant temp yet though. I do have it down to where I know exactly where and how to place the lego propping the door open throughout the day to hold it where I want it....lol...that was a huge find....

. I'm hoping for a 100% hatch rate, expecting a 0% hatch rate...

. Still working on it and is too soon to have put eggs in it, but I got excited, because I can keep it where it needs to be as long as I don't leave the place....more loling. I should just sit on them myself...can't sleep worrying about the darn things...

. At least I decided not to hit confirm order on the crested ibis, kakapo and brazilian merganser eggs I was going to start with and x'ed out of that site....haha.

Those 5 chicks of yours are looking good! Even if they might have a cat about to eat them...

. I looked up what BV meant in the chicken show world...lol. Congrats on that! I seen you type that before and figured it must be good.

Thanks, we have been lucky with ours, they have turned out great so far for weight vs. health vs. age... bunch are in the freezer already, doing another small group tomorrow, along with a few young rooster culls... will keep one out to roast for dinner over the weekend. Will be making a couple of gallons of soup also, I think.

I'm learning a lot on getting them processed better and done faster....still not very good at it though! I can look at 600 videos on youtube on how to do something, but done of it makes sense until I do it and have a question and then watch them again looking for the answer...

Thank you! I just ate my first CX and it was great! Going to have another tomorrow, well today! I'm learning a lot on getting them processed better and done faster....still not very good at it though! I can look at 600 videos on youtube on how to do something, but done of it makes sense until I do it and have a question and then watch them again looking for the answer...

I hope the Ol' Whitey does something with the eggs. Don't buy a big incubator, otherwise you'll end up hatching a gazillion eggs...unless that's your plan!

I've never even heard of a kakapo or a brazilian merganser. I visited my dear friend Google, and found out that they are very pretty birds. I have to say, though, that the Mandarin ducks are much prettier than the Mergansers.

I'm going to have some someday!! I might have to wait until I'm old and sitting in a wheel chair, but gosh darn it!! I will have myself some Mandarin ducks before I die.

Oh yeah, BV is best variety = best of color. I'm still not too excited about my cockerel's BV because there's only been one other splash at each show that was not as nice as mine. So it was sort of a no brainer.. If I didn't tell anyone that there was no competition, a BV might seem more impressive.

People need to get more splash silkies, that's it!!

Might I add....it is VEEEERY hot here today! We went from 60+ degrees to 80+ over night.

Horses look like they just want to lay down and pass out. Even the alpaca is splashing around in his pool. Yes, our alpaca has a pool. One of those kid pools. lol I think the chickens and the tortoises are the only animals here that are still having a good time.

Thanks! I appreciate it!!! You've posted some helpful pics and that fluid around the ones heart was interesting. I'll make sure my main question at the moment isn't already answered in there. I was following that thread then missed the middle and picked back up more towards the end now. I can't believe how lost I just was on all of it and how bad I did on 2 cull roosters last winter! Also, I am learning so much on all kinds of stuff right now and just love it!!!

....yeah, I'm already hooked on looking at them in there and the thought of chicks hatching and I did it. I better not get a big one...especially next year when I have turkey, duck AND chicken eggs to incubate out....which I'm going to do, but better keep it under control....lol. Another fun learning experience! I just grabbed those 3 breeds of birds I mentioned off of a list of rarest birds in the world with less than a few hundred left total in existence....

. Maybe word will spread that I fired up Ol' Whitey and I will be contacted by the head authorities to hatch some of them out...hehe..

. I'm going to buy me some nerd glasses, some with lots of tape around the middle part there, and really go to work ironing this thing out. I think the missing link is that I don't look the part of someone smart enough to do this, oh wait, I'm not smart enough to do it...

Well, came home from work this morning with about zilch for ambition... but did cut up some of our processed chicken to be vacuum packed this evening for the freezer.

Then got out the camera and spent some time outside following critters around (and sometimes being followed by the critters!LOL)

I better not get a big one...especially next year when I have turkey, duck AND chicken eggs to incubate out....which I'm going to do, but better keep it under control....lol. How many eggs you hatch is all about self control. Whether you have it or not!

So far, I have managed to contain myself. We'll see next year. lol Or even in another couple weeks when I get to move my Silkies into a breeding pen and start collecting eggs. Good thing I have a small incubator, so if I fill it...it won't be 300 eggs in there.

Then I've been talking to a gentleman about some OEGB eggs...or birds. They could live with the Silkies. Or even the Cochins.
