Sorry, didnt mean to join and then drop out of site!!

I was having complications during pregnancy - whooping cough being the LEAST serious of the bunch >~< so I took a break from all online activities. When I was able to get back online, I couldn't remember passwords for ANYTHING!!

So, an update on our "farm" ...(Original crw at time of first posting: We have 6 chickens - 2 roosters, 4 laying hens; a cockatoo; alexandrine; cockatiel; 6 ducks - 1 regular muscovy female, 1 giant muscovy female 1 giant muscovy drake 3 ducklings of normal backyard breed; goat; dog; cat; guinea pig and 3 button quails.)

All our hens (rhode island reds) and one of our roosters got savaged by SOMETHING. No clue what, tho we suspect the culprit/s are the local "white tailed rats" which - it turns out - are not rats after all!! Our local feed shop assures me that these "rats" are VERY vicious and can tear the throat out of my feathered livestock, and can even do damage to my cat! A few nights after we found one of our hens and one of the roosters savaged? We found one of our hand raised ducks dead on the OUTSIDE of the night time pen. So, we now have 3 giant laying hens (no clue what they are called, but they are HUGE!!!) and a new silver rooster.

Both our roosters - old and new - sleep up on my patio near our dog!!

Our goat managed to get loose and got up close to our tiel cage, busted open the door and she got loose. She has been still hanging around the house though, and still whistles good mornign to us before flitting off. NO hope of catching her or returning her to caged domestic life now. We HOPE she is coming down for seed if she gets hungry enough!!

Our regular muscovy female, and giant muscovy drake had a bunch of eggs - two babies hatched and only one survived. (Those dratted 'rats' again!) The mother vanished a few weeks back and we strongly suspect it was a huge snake that had been after the 'too.

We added a second dog to the family.

We no longer have the guinea pig - there were quite a few that turned out to be hospice patients and not with us for long! So, for the sake of my sanity, we are no long housing guinea pigs until I can handle the possibility of losing another.

Our female quails died, and we suspect that the cage we had them in was infected with some sort of BAD germ, because EVERY bird that was housed in that cage died. That cage has now gone to the dump. The male was thankfully in a different cage, so never got infected. We now have 3 new females and all keep him company in his cage.

We also added to the collection 2 welsh ducks. 1 of which is a Harlequin Welsh. When I have a chance I can put up all the different breeds they are. So, the crew in total is:

5 chickens, (3 hens and 2 roosters), 7 ducks (3 Muscovey, 2 Rouen, 2 Welsh), 4 Button Quails, 2 dogs, 1 cat and 1 goat.

Oh yes, and 1 teeny tiny preemie human baby as well who just turned 9 weeks old :)

Thanks! Its been an adventure lol.

We went and bought 4 new female giant muscovies, just to help the flock dynamics, right? Within 2 weeks one of them disappeared, and then 2 weeks after that, a second one vanished!!
And one of our female quails died :(

I found out the chickens are called "sex linked..." something??

I'm ready to make a fence banner out of every snake I see at this point LOL Its a good thing our snake removalist will take them all no matter what!

Oh yes, I found the facebook site LOL

5 chickens, (3 hens and 2 roosters), 9 ducks (5 Muscovey, 2 Rouen, 2 Welsh), 3 Button Quails, 2 dogs, 1 cat and 1 goat.
