Actually she isn't a frizzle! We bought her while she was in molt (you know hoe they look in molt

) So we named her Mrs Frizzle!

I have forgotten to post a picture of our third in command roo! His name is Big D. He normally hangs around in the far edge of our yard with his 5 or 6 hens.

The black hen with him has just started laying eggs! They are beautiful and brown (I don't have many that lay brown eggs!)

HennyPenny has suffered a very tragic loss today! I hawk was flying in the area when she was in the open space and before the roosters could warn her it dived and took a chick! Luckily it was a roo

(still equally loved, but better than a hen being taken)
I HATE IT WHEN THIS HAPPENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes it is, I want to start hanging up some old CD's around the place! Does anyone else have some ideas?

Mrs Frizzle is a very proud mother! Her first time didn't go so well, a hawk took all of her chicks. We are hoping that her second batch goes well, aren't we?

She doesn't seem very happy in the pic. I had to wake her up to get the pic and I think she woke up on the wrong side of the nest!


6/11 have hatched so far! I love it when they are all on a nest like this with momma next to them going "gluck" gluck"! It is so special

These two are my favourite chicks so far! I love the black one with a white spot on its neck!


The broilers are going quickly! 4 more weeks till they can get slaughtered and eaten!


This is the food they changed to yesterday! It is called grower here in South Africa. It is what they eat from the 2nd to the 3rd week of their life's!

I need some help on naming my flock! Like "Flock Bizzaretot"!
