Trying to get into better shape. Took out my old mountain bike the other day and have been going for short rides 3 days in a row now! Finding out my 61 year old self does not find the mountain bike as comfortable as my 30 something year old when I bought it. Bike works great. It's just me that has aged. I have seriously been considering getting into an ebike, maybe the fat wheel type, due to my age and where I live. Don't want to be somewhere down the road and blow the old heart trying to get back home. Might be a good idea for me to have a powered assist if needed. The fat tires should give me a few more months of riding if not too much snow on the ground. I hear that fat tires will be stable enough on snow so you don't fall. If that is not true, then I don't care about getting fat tires.Anyway, the problem I have, is that all the reviews on YouTube for the bikes in my price range (under $1000) seem to come from China and those bike brands seem to disappear in less than a year. If I invest in an eBike, I would want something that I can get parts for later down the road. I might be wrong in my thinking, but my 30 year old non-ebike still works as good as the day I bought it and I know I could find repair parts for it if needed. I don't get that same feeling with eBikes. In fact, it seems the ebike company might be out of business before the warranty is up based on the YouTube videos I have seen.
If there are good bikes outside of my price range, I would consider them. My budget is flexible. Dear Wife is not as flexible. So, I need to weigh options and benefits before a big purchase. Did I mention that we need a new dishwasher? Guess which has priority?
Anyways, we don't have a local bike shop in my small town, so I will have to order anything I get. If anyone has suggestions or what to get, or what to avoid, please let me know. Thanks.
