:old Trying to get into better shape. Took out my old mountain bike the other day and have been going for short rides 3 days in a row now! Finding out my 61 year old self does not find the mountain bike as comfortable as my 30 something year old when I bought it. Bike works great. It's just me that has aged. I have seriously been considering getting into an ebike, maybe the fat wheel type, due to my age and where I live. Don't want to be somewhere down the road and blow the old heart trying to get back home. Might be a good idea for me to have a powered assist if needed. The fat tires should give me a few more months of riding if not too much snow on the ground. I hear that fat tires will be stable enough on snow so you don't fall. If that is not true, then I don't care about getting fat tires.

Anyway, the problem I have, is that all the reviews on YouTube for the bikes in my price range (under $1000) seem to come from China and those bike brands seem to disappear in less than a year. If I invest in an eBike, I would want something that I can get parts for later down the road. I might be wrong in my thinking, but my 30 year old non-ebike still works as good as the day I bought it and I know I could find repair parts for it if needed. I don't get that same feeling with eBikes. In fact, it seems the ebike company might be out of business before the warranty is up based on the YouTube videos I have seen.

If there are good bikes outside of my price range, I would consider them. My budget is flexible. Dear Wife is not as flexible. So, I need to weigh options and benefits before a big purchase. Did I mention that we need a new dishwasher? Guess which has priority?

Anyways, we don't have a local bike shop in my small town, so I will have to order anything I get. If anyone has suggestions or what to get, or what to avoid, please let me know. Thanks.

I'm bike shopping now too but not for an electric one. The top of my bike list requirements is a big fat cushion seat.
I'm finding it difficult to find anything local. Seems like everything I find online is coming straight from China.

After three days of riding my mountain bike, I'm thinking maybe at my age a nice big fat cushion seat is what I need, too. I'm only out for a short 30 minute ride per day, but the regular bike seat is harder on the back end then I remember back in the day!

I'm not anti-China, per se, but I really want something that is serviceable a few years down the road. The China based ebikes I was looking into buying based on the YouTube reviews, have all gone out of business. They seem to get high reviews, but 6 months later they are no longer sold on Amazon.

Thanks for the response.
