Faverolle Chicks 16 days old

So last year I hatched some french faverolle eggs in an incubator and knew 100% sure which chicks were male and female before they turned two weeks old. This year, not so much. The man I bought the eggs from bought a new rooster and apparently his kiddos are much harder to sex. Their "mom" is one of my marans hens who got so broody it scared me so she did the honors of sitting on the eggs and raising these little Houdinis. But now they're 16 days old and I really want to know the sex. Can you guys help me out?

I agree with you. Had chicks every year for the last 10 years but never like this. They hatched one day early, are much less fluffy than their half-brothers and sisters from last year and they are extremely active since day one. I must say the weather has been extremely dry and way hotter than we're used to here in Holland. So they completely rely on what I feed them because there's not much in the soil right now.

They all do look very small but I’ve never owned that kind so I guess they all grow at a different rate. But still much much too early to tell gender

from my research and some experience you can usually tell with salmon faverolles at a pretty young age by looking at the strip of feathers on the wing that will come in black for a male or brown for a female // for the most part. there are of course poorly bred hatchery stock that wont
