Faverolle Thread

Hi there, just posting you let you know that the breed is actually faverolles, with an 's' at the end at all times, no matter how many birds you are talking about, since the breed originated in a town name Faverolles, and are named after the town and so always have the 's'. There is a popular, active faverolles thread here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/268082/faverolles-thread

Also, I'm sorry to say your girls are not faverolles. Faverolles have beards and muffs, which it looks like your girls have, but they also have feathered legs and five toes, which your girls do not. They are also single combed, and your top girl is not. There are several project colors of faverolles here in the US, but the only accepted color is salmon, which your girls are also not. Apologies if someone sold them to you as faverolles because they are definitely not.

They werent sold to me as Faverolles, they were sold to me as mixed breeds with a faverolles parent.

so they both have some faverolles in them they are just not pure breed.

Thanks anyway, especially for the breed name correction.

You're welcome! There could definitely be some faverolles in there, but probably at least a generation back, as in one was a grandparent perhaps. Leg feathering is dominant, so if a faverolles was a direct parent they should both have some leg feathering. They are very pretty regardless! I especially like your black and white girl.
