The Salmon Faverolles thread!

All Salmon Faverolle owners come and say hi!

I heard people say they are dumb- they certainly are NOT! Being at the bottom of the pecking order does not necessarily mean they are dumb!

If you don't have any positive things to say about them please don't reply:)

II have one Salmon Faverolles chick named Peanut and I love it so far! It is an amazing, curious and funny chick!

Edit: Peanut is now a big girl!

And a sad update: Peanut passed on the 8'th of April 2022. RIP baby💕

I have 3 SFs, Nikki, Santa, and Coco. I got them last summer when they were 5mo, so they’re a little sketchy around people. But I’ve been making progress on taming them! Nikki and Coco will come up to me and let me pet them, providing I give them snacks afterwards. XD
They’re going to turn 2yo sometime in late December/early January.

And Santa. I don’t have many good pics of her since she’s so sketchy, but this is one of my favorites : P

And then here they all are as little clay figurines. : D

I look forward to seeing everyone’s SFs! They’re some of my favorite breeds.

Hello!

I’ve started my Faverolles breeding program this season, which has been… well… a steep learning curve!

Most of my favs I’ve acquired are older girls, so I needed to increase my breeding stock.

Apparently I love a challenge 😆. A tricky breed to get right, a rare breed, finding ok quality stock, learning how to incubate in La Niña conditions, learning how to incubate shipped eggs and living on the island state of tasmania, on the island country of Australia!

These are two of my better babies from my first round of purebred favs. These eggs travelled about 4000km by express post over 4 days to get to me.

My first Flocks were Salmon Faverolles. They are just wonderful chickens especially for beginners. Lovable, cute and fairly calm. They aren’t as predator savvy though, they don’t seem to notice things as quickly as my other breeds (brown leghorn and red sex links.) Also when they have big fluffy muffs it interferes with their vision.
My profile pic is of Blondie, who was a SF without muff or beard. She had heart failure early this summer and I miss her so much!

Morning 🙂 I have 2 Faverolle hens Polly and Poppy and 1 rooster Robbie. My girls have just finished their moult so have yet to start laying, but they are so cute and inseparable. Robbie is just coming on 5 months old and is petrified of them 🤣 hopefully that will change once his hormones kick in so I can get some babies 🤞
