Maybe I'll take a picture of what her eggs look like. I only have one of this kind of bird, so her egg is really, really easy to find. They're just so round. She is just way to cute and beautiful! So she lays a decent amount of eggs?
Oh no! You need to tell the flock matron to stop picking on this sweet hen!!!
I’d love to see pictures of her eggs!!Maybe I'll take a picture of what her eggs look like. I only have one of this kind of bird, so her egg is really, really easy to find. They're just so round.
I am actually thinking it might be a good idea to separate the head hen with her crony for a week or two and see if pecking order can be re-established. Normally I wouldn't do something so drastic, but this is the second time she's bitten the tip of a point off Fable's comb and blood management is just wild with chicken combs. It spurts and puddles down her face and into her nose. I'm concerned about my other girls developing a taste for blood, and I'm concerned about the caked blood in her nares impacting her ability to breathe. (looking for tips on that, by the way, one of her nostrils is blocked with blood still and I am not sure how to remove it.)
Ok. From left to right, Russian orloff, welsummer, and Fable's lil butt nugget.I’d love to see pictures of her eggs!!
I would definitely separate the boss hen! I’m honestly not sure how to clean blood from her nose, I have never had a problem like this with my chickens. Could you take a toothpick and gently clean the blood out?
