No, she's a pullet, it's quite common to get dark pullets like that from hatcheries...Hi, I am looking to the experts here. I ordered 2 Favs from Meyers in the spring. They are now about 10 weeks old. The problem is one is very light and the other is pretty dark. Do I have a cockeral here?If so this will be my 4th male when I've ordered all pullets. That is about half my chickens are males.
So what do you think? Thanks for looking and helping me out.![]()

No, he doesn't handle her (he's "attached" to her because she's part of a pair - her mate is very sweet, and they were our first Favs). She doesn't attack us or anything, I can walk right up to her while she's out free ranging, but if I try to touch her or pick her up, I better be wearing long sleeves and gloves....so I just don't.She bites you?! - Does she bite your son?
magnolia-1971, you should try offering them some hand fed treat, find something they really like - the freeze dried mealworms (or real worms!) work great, or little scraps of meat can draw their attention - whatever.... get them to come and eat out of your hand. They will associate you with something good... and voila!
Good luck with them, I think you'll be glad you got some Favs, even if they're not from a breeder - keep an eye on this website, it's how I got my lovely little biddies![]()
