I have my first splash Cockeral, and have one splash hen. I have a LF blue Salmon Roo & 2 Blue girls & splash sister, PasoFino line. and now LF Blacks Dick & Pam Christopher lines.
Will be happy to share,Hi eliz! Well, when you have a few extra splash favs to share, put me on the list![]()
They are way too young to make those decisions right now. You shouldn't choose breeders until they are at least 8 months old.
I meant which one to take to the show and will do better the 4-h fair Is in July
I know I just have "hatchery" chickens, but I have to say, my Salmon Faverolles "chicks" are SO sweet! When they were around eight weeks old, I put a three week old and a five week old chick in their coop with them. The SFs were more afraid of the new chicks than the new chicks were of them. That night, they were all snuggled in their henhouse together. None of my other chickens (even as chicks) were ever that accepting of new introductions.
So that pen consists of my two SFs, a SLW, and a Cochin (haven't quite figured out, yet, it's coloring). They are still a bit timid with me, and are not so quick to come up to me, but I didn't get to spend as much time with them as I would have liked to, either, so I don't expect them to come running to me when I go into the pen. Still lovely birds!
Oh don't give up on them being friendly. We didn't get ours till 10 weeks but over the course of two weeks they went from shy to roosting on my arm
I found them hugely food motivated lol
