Nope, they won't be autosexing. Only the salmons and variants (blue salmon, splash salmon) are autosexing. All other varieties (black, blue, white, buff, cuckoo, ermine, lavender) will make you wait to see males from females.I could kill two birds with one stone if I bought them... but then I wouldn't know how to work on it... hmmm
ps... are they still autosexing? I am not sure how they could be...
I'm not sure who ships chicks. I will see if I can find anyone. Would juveniles be an option?I'm looking for good breeding stock to start out a nice little flock of Salmon Faverolles (LF) I have wanted them for years and now it is almost time to get some. Can you recommend someone that I can buy chicks from? We live in Colorado and it is a pretty big challenge getting hatching eggs to hatch here - especially if not laid here (high altitude issues) I am looking for some options from those of you in the know. I am not interested in any hatchery stock - been there, done that and not doing it again! If I order chicks from someone I can avoid hatching headaches and I get a start with some good stock. BUT I don't know who has the good stuff - I am not necessarily looking for SQ stock but good birds suitable for breeding and possibly eventually showing.
Hi, as You mentioned You are trying to buy property and set up coops and such, a lot to think about…….but do consider that some breeders don't hatch all year long and may only have them available for a short time…depending what others You hope to have, Faverolles usually end up on the bottom of the pecking so You may be ok with an age. Thanks Keesmom, juveniles wouldn't really work this time round as we are wanting to start all our chicks about the same time to avoid integration issues down the line. I'll be getting other chicks too and want them to all be together from the beginning - except when they're in breeding pens. But anyone who sells chicks would be very helpful ...
