Anyone have any idea as to what part I should replace first on the hatcher?? Thanks!

OMG I love Faverolles! I was going to get one (or 2,3,4,5,6....)

But it is REALLY HARD to keep feather footies free ranging when u show them, too. I've tried with Silkies, the result...... not so good.

Mama to-
2 Rhode Island Reds, 1 Silver Laced Wyandotte, 2 Silkies, 2 Modern Game Banties, 1 Black Sumatra, 1 Golden Campine, 1 Bearded Buff Laced Polish, and 1 Birchen OEG banty.

That is true my birds feet are not in great condition. Its working for me to move the runs to new ground every other day or so and keep it out of muddy areas and keep them in when its raining. But they still don't look great I refuse to lock my birds up in the coop all the time or cage them

But they are worth it we will see how my birds do at the show even with their broken foot feathers. The feathering on them isnt really like a silkie or a cochin though so we will see.

You should get some just for fun

Hipeatall, I could be off, but if those are Melissa's eggs, it looks like 1 roo to me. There is one in there on the bottom that may have darker coloring , but has those long wings. I had one like that, and decided to take a chance when everyone was saying roo, and she lays a pretty egg!

Girls. Do you see a big difference in the length of the wings between boys and girls? My "boys" have stubby wings at about 10 days now. The girls wings are long, and they've started getting tail feathers. I gotta take some pics.

Like Henry, I also refuse to cage my birds, I show them, but don't take the birds that have done serious damage to their foot feathers. They always look a little scruffy around the leg/foot area, but I think most judges can tell when you have a nice bird that gets to be 'happy' and run around outside. If they are going to be THAT picky, they can take their ribbon and shove it! I show my birds for fun, and if they win, that's just a bonus anyway!

these are from the cloverleaf eggs I nabbed from you... I still appreciate you forgiving me for that! That would be so wonderful if you were right and I have just 1 roo... my hubby is getting a bit weary with all the roos... we went from 0 to 3 pretty quick and that's not including the chicks... oh my!
I do have some of Melissa's beautiful favs and I love love love them... they are about a year now... my white roo (Mr. Hen) pictured a couple of posts back is from her... he's a sweetie. It was funny... I got my chickies from Melissa when they were a day or so old and at two weeks when they feathered out a bit I was sure I had 3 roos and 1 hen (that would be how my luck usually goes!)... but, I had it totally backwards because really I had 3 hens and 1 white roo! Too funny... hopefully, someday I will be able to do a better job at sexing my chicks... gosh I have so much to learn still!

But Cloverleaf was nice enough to let me know she could send me eggs, too. But I had already ordered from Melissa.

Keep the roos till one's a problem, then that one goes. I let them eliminate themselves, I've had pretty good luck that way.

These are all 8-9 days old:

1. Boys?

2. This one I think is a girl, but not 100% . I'm thinking too much salmon for a boy. All 3 pics of the same chick here:

3. Girls. Both chicks in one pic, a better pic of the left chick in the 2nd pic.

4. Girls. The white one I'm thinking girl because she has super long wing feathers

I hope I'm right on these! But if not, you live and learn.

Oops! I think I missed one girl for a picture!
