Faverolles Thread

That chick may end up really dark (of course, so could the others) but if you are only keeping 1, I wouldn't keep that one...of course if you're only keeping 1, you're not breeding them, keep the 1 you think is the sweetest!

the ones i hatched out last year that had a back spot like that all ended up being cockerels. i would keep an eye on the foot feathers to see if any dark colors start showing up there to be sure before selling it off.

I candled the eggs last night and only ONE came thru the entire doz. Shipping was so hard on them! Only had two infertile eggs and the rest of them had blood rings or quit around 7-8th day. This solo egg is developing nicely as you can expect! Hoping to have it before Easter!

My Ameracuana bantam eggs are coming along really good, might have five or six out of the doz would be developing before Easter as well. They fared a little better but they are only about three hours away from me so shipping was ok. A few had blown egg pockets.

Hope the Faverolle egg is a pullet!

No worries! Maybe by fall when the broodies come back into the cycle. Right now they are really getting impatient about their chicks LOL so hopefully all of the viable eggs will be turned out to them this evening or tomorrow morning. I sure hope they do not smash them LOL! It is a lot of eggs so half of them will go to them.

Maybe one of the wish list is to have hubby build me a garden shed for me that I can use the floor for brooding chicks.

Well I just candled and I have 11 out of 12 silver penciled rock bantam eggs showing movement they are due on the 6th! Then I have 11 out of 12 lavender, Millie Fluer, and butterscotch project D'uccles developing and due the 7th. Wow I think I am too lucky for my own good ha ha if these all hatch I will defently have some chicks available.

I had to ask if you have any adults & pics of your project D'Uccles? My porcelin roo is a booger. He attacks my 11yr DD not me so much now. The hens are so sweet we showed our MF yesterday and she did great for the 1 time. She laid an egg within 5 min of being back out. Lol
I've seen Ideal has like 9 varieties and wondered if anyone has the Br Red D'Uccles. We're gonna hatch out more Faves and stick with them now. A Fav question I have is can you keep 2 roo's without killing eachother?
