Wow have I been missing some good stuff! I get busy w/ work for a few days and when I come back online... anyway. I have managed to track down some chicks and have a line on a few more sources. I am not new to the breeding game so I plan on getting my hands on as many birds as I can then culling like crazy. I have also gotten my plans for the chicken arks, a good friend of the family will be building them for us (hubby is so NOT a tool guy lol), hope to have at least 2 painted and ready to go by June 1st. The solar-powered, 4 foot tall, poultry electric net/fence has arrived and been installed to teach the local varmits to be wary... we also need to be wary as everyone in the family including the dog has been zapped at least once since it's ins.
Better than coffee if you need to be wide awake in a hurry, but I wouldn't recommend trying it.
PFmerlin welcome and thank you for sharing your chicken wisdom, I wish you and everyone else involved in the lavender project good luck. I would give it a shot myself but my space is limited to 4 pens of 5 birds... will be working on Salmon LF with some of Dicks birds (hopefully), as well as a few from other sources if I getlucky and find good ones. If you need an outcrossing in the future I might have something to help you out
Henry good luck with your new D'uccles roo, hope the color leakage is not an issue for you. Also good luck w/ your broody and other new birds, I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
Cindy, thanks for all of your emails and support. Good luck with the sussex crosses... might want a super broody gal from you myself if you have one.
Cloverleaf I am so sorry about your loss! I hope the vet doesn't find anything that will cause problems for you. Good luck w/ the new birds... I hope you will get a roo sweet enough to be Rupert the second.
Pasofino good luck w/ those piggies... been there myself!
All the new eggs- WELCOME!!!
