Faverolles Thread

Hi David! I'm glad to see you have blue bantams too. Mine will be arriving in another 10 days when Henry brings them up. I'm going to stick with bantam blues and LF salmons. That's enough to keep me busy. I can't imagine 400 chicks, and another 400 on the way!

I like the blues I have. I am glad to here you are going to be working with the blues as well. 400 chicks for me is nothing. This coming breeding season fall 2010 - spring 2011 I'll hatch around 10,000 young birds for myself plus a bunch more to sell. I love hatching the birds.

I love the buff color and I wish that it was still around in LF I really want to work on that later on I would love some buff bantams though.

Okay. I probably won't have any chicks to sell until early spring though. But then I'll be happy to ship chicks. I plan on recreating the large buffs as well, but that project won't be started until the fall. I may work on the cuckoo's as well.

I also want to say that the majority of Faverolles I have in large and bantam all seem to lay a much darker brown egg than the called for 'tinted' color.

Hmm that is interesting all of the favs I have had lay tinted except for these blue and black hens. Ya I wouldn't be able to take anything till early spring anyway. That would be great the LF buffs and Cuckoos would be beautiful! What breed would you use to make the Cuckoos? Cochins? I am still working on Lavenders I will have the first F-1 chicks hatching in early spring maybe we can trade of something I have the bantams and Dick has already hatched F-1 LF chicks.

I love my blacks and splashes! I have Cindy's blues now and hopefully I will hatch a few blue chicks while they are still here. Hatching is great ha ha I can only do 30- 40 at a time which is fine with me. I only have small incubators do you have sportsman incubators? I want to go back to my friend Will Marrow's farm to check out his bators he seems to have some very nice ones. 10,000 WOW! Good luck!

I can't even imagine 10,000 chicks. I love to hatch, but after a while I run out of room!

What other breeds do you have?

Hopefully I can hatch some splashes. I know they aren't an accepted color but I think they're pretty.

Well if you have blue to blue, you'll get some splashes. You'll need them for your blue program anyways. I like to keep some around just to look at as well. For my other breeds, well, in bantams, I have all 8 colors of Plymouth Rocks, a few new hampshires, and rhode island reds, and in Large fowl, I have 6 colors of Rocks, as well as Anconas, Spanish, Andalusians, Minorcas, BCW Polish, Blue Langshans, a few mottled javas, and around 12 varieties of Leghorns. Plus ducks, geese and soon turkeys.

Whoot!

hehe! and i've got a chick! here's hoping more will pop out over night! congrats on yours!

Henry, the hen (Hera) i have from Chickn lays a darker and larger egg than the Hat Trick girls i got from you. Kiva, Kiera and Chloe all lay that same darker egg too, but i've noticed they seem slightly speckled with white.

I'm curious, do the Hattrick hens lay off white to white eggs?

I love Langshans! The blues must be stunning.

I have a black and a white, and some Sussex X Langshan project chicks. I suppose I should keep a pair of those along with the faverolle project chicks.

But I would LOVE some blue Langshans.
