Faverolles Thread

Here are a couple of pics of my project chicks.

Two roos, different hatches. Might as well be twins.

Cute pullet that will be staying. Has 5 toes on each foot, leg feathering plus beard and muff. Unfortunately I haven't hatched a twin of her.

Plus a pic of one of the kids' favorites, the bantams. This is Katherine and Sammy.

I think I recognize that girl! Is that Esme? Except she now has feathers on her back and looks much better! Hope she makes you some great EE babies. At least they should have magnificent beards!

Janelle (from TN) got her at a swap- I think the one in KY. She's so flipping cute! I might get a fav roo some day, but for now I have a splash wheaten ameraucana that's going to get at least 6 of the faverolle girls.

You'll probably really like the resulting chicks of that cross. I know I have been really happy with most of the crossbred chicks by my Fav roo. Here is a 17 week old cockerel that I think I am keeping. I'm not quite sure what direction I'm going with him yet but I really like him. He is out of a Gold Laced Cochin hen.

I really like the nice wide body that the Faverolles breeding passes on.

I'm new to this thread and to this breed. I bought some eggs this spring from Jaynie Knight (jimnjay on here). I have 9 pullets and narrowed down the cockerels to just 3. I was hoping to maybe show a few of them in October. I'm going to ask the experienced people on here if there are any major faults they see on these birds. I've gone over the standard of perfection too when I culled cockerels. The pullets I didn't want to be too critical of myself since there are only 9 to work with. I'd appreciate any criticism.

I just wanted to let you know those birds you have are out of my stock. From what I can see, they look nice. Jaynie bought a trio off of me last fall. If the pullets have any discoloration in the breast, do not show them. Or if they have any discoloration or black splotches in the hackle don't show them either. You could use them for breeding. What show are you going to in October?

Wow small world! Thank you for posting. I was planning on the BCPPA Fall Classic in New Ulm on Oct. 8-10th and the MN State Poultry Show in Hutchinson on Oct. 22-24th. I mainly show silkies and my siblings are into waterfowl. My mom had been drooling over some standard faverolles shown by Duane Urch a few years back and I opted for the smaller version. I know Jaynie from the silkies so bought some eggs from her. Except for pictures I have nothing really to compare them to up here. I know my birds are young (~6-7 months) and need to fill out a bit yet. Not much black as far as I can tell...only in the tips of the tails and some in the wings. One of the cockerels is just getting his main tail feathers. Beards and tufts all look okay to me. I'm going to pull them in for preliminary baths soon and will get better pics then. Entry forms are due in about 3 weeks for the BCPPA show so I still have time to decide.

Keesmom, do you have any more pics or your splash bantam boy? i'm wondering if i have one. he/she has been very sweet and i just can't seem to resist the urge to keep this one! i am thinking it is a splash with the unusual lacing coming through on it's back feathers, almost a reverse of the traditional salmon lacing pattern. i'll get pics later today so i can get others opinions.

Glad everyone is doing well I have been having lots of fun up here and getting used to having homework again! Its nice and cool and really feels like fall. My birds are doing well at home!

Got any pics yet? My splash salmon boys (I had 2, Laura has the other) did not have lacing, so maybe you have a pullet of some sort?

Here's some more pics.
