Thanks all!! Yes curse those brahmas!!! Heehee Julie clerked for the judge and apparently ha didn't like any of the favs. Said they weren't "square" enough?? Oh well? Are trapezoid and square the same?
Henry-orps did good I guess?? Only one other that wasn't mine but hen did win best English and roo reserve. Just a few others in whole class they were Black australorps. In juniors one of the pullet won reserve English and a black aust won English so... Pretty good overall. Lil over 500 birds total show.
Peter-where have you been?? Figured your computer crashed again??!! Did you get me last pm?? The one about Doris Robinson saying hello?
I am sure this is on this forum somewhere......but I would like to see what everyone feeds their Favs. I just switched back to Country Side Natural and my birds seem to like it a lot more. I was actually surprised to see it. I switched b/c there is no soy in it. Thanks!
Does anyone that have the Salmon Faverolls sell & ship them ? I also am looking for Russian orloff's. I did find a hatchery " Natures hatchery" they sell both , MPC does not have the russians.

Hey Davlyn,
Lots of people ship extra started birds and eggs. Not many breeders big enough to ship many chicks and this time of year your going to have a hard time finding birds this time of year. I am glad your interested in this very rare breed. I think it would be great if you contact a breeder and wait to get birds next spring. Breeder Faverolles and hatchery faverolles are very different. If your planning on breeding and showing do not get Faverolles from a hatchery but maybe if they are just backyard eggs layers you could get them. Just know they may not look like the pictures you see on here and on the website. Welcome to the wonderful world of Faverolles they are great birds and my personal favorites after owning more then 10 different breeds.

Thank you. No, I am not looking for chicks now. In the spring. I just had to break to my Hubby , that I wanted a few more chicks of rare breeds. I can get a small coop that will hold 4 to 6. so I can move my Bantam frizzles to the small coop & make room for the newbies in the spring. So I'd be looking at april/ may/ june if I need to wait that long.. I am also looking for Russian Orloffs.

Hey, I forgot to say congratulations on your hens. I was still depressed about what the judge said about my Favs. I'm still confused as to why my cockerel was best, because he said he still didn't like him!
In my opinion a lot of judges don't know what to look for in a Faverolles. They just haven't seen enough of them to be experts. The judge who judged the show I showed at last said he hadn't seen a Faverolles in at least 5 years! He told me himself. Although he did say that my hen I got from RI was very good and that she could have gotten Reserve FL if I had her foot feathers in better condition. Julie I am not sure what the judge said but thats to bad. Kassandra who knows what the judge wanted maybe he just wanted a boxier British type bantam instead of the more trapezoidal shape.
