Faverolles Thread

I washed my 2 year old Banty Fav roo today, for the big show tomorrow... and found skinny little naked stripes down both sides of his neck.

He came to me with mites & lice & a bit deconditioned, but I thought he was recovered

I was worried they'd reject him for the spur he broke off in a skirmish last week. In retrospect, I don't think he started it. Now I'm afraid they'll reject him for lack of plumage. He's from eggs from Rose Isgrigg http://alphahen.com/rosespoultry.html
I
wish he had that nice black beard like her Champion 'Scooter'. The best description of his beard is 'Spangled'.

Are those naked stripes on the neck normal? There is no sign of feathers ever having been there. *wrings hands*
Should I leave him home?

I was hoping to sell this guy at the show. He's a sweetie one on one, 20 times easier to wash than my dog (who should know better), and was getting along in the group until the Barnevelder boys hit puberty. I plan to focus on LF Favs.
He can live in the tractor I guess. He hasn't bonded with the LF Fav Pullets. They could be a quad. I wouldn't hatch any, of course. lol there are enough breeds already.

Lots of snow tonight and the only chicken that didn't make it back to the coop was my Salmon Fav pullet. She stayed in the open garage where they whole flock had been hanging out before dark, sitting on a box. Guess she didn't want to get her little feathered feet wet

I would take him. First stop at a nail salon and have them apply an acrylic spur. Then take some fluff from other places and crazy glue it on the stripes.

Hey yall, has any of yall bought Faverolles from Purely Poultry either their show quality chicks or the regular chicks. Do you find both favorable? Is there that big a difference between the two. Looking for yall's expert opinions with great interest. I am contemplating acquiring one or the other from them but most likely their regular chicks. Thanks

I've pondered getting some of the "exhibition quality" chicks myself, but I find it interesting that they use the same photo for their "regualr" sf's and their "exhibition quality" sf's....hmmm...seems a little fishy...if I'm going to pay that much money for "exhibition quality" then I want to see actual pics of the actual birds the actual chicks are actually coming from!
