Faverolles Thread

I'm new to this breed, thought I would say hi
smile.png
I have a dozen eggs about to go into the bator from Kris Krauter's line. I've never seen any of these birds in my area and I'm so super excited to have them. I was being really picky though because I didn't want hatchery stock, and when I saw the pics of these birds I knew I had something special. Can't wait!! Will post pics when they hatch.

Bonnie is a pretty girl! I am not sure about the weight of her, I will let the experts answer that one because I am just starting out with the Fav's too but I know my bantam fav's are heavier and bigger than other bantams. They definitely weigh more than my silkies.
Enjoy your little girl. Fav's are a wonderful breed!!!

Thanks for replying! I hate feeling ignored!

Hi sorry didn't mean for you to feel ignored. She looks like a LF faverolles to me. She is very small at 2lbs 12oz! Is she skinny? Or just small? Most LF faverolles are around 5lb or more. There aren't any bantams at hatcheries that I know of. Glad your enjoying her though.

I am looking for some LF salmon Fave's. I orders a few from Mypetchicken and am not happy with the coloration on the hens. They are VERY dark. I would love some chicks or eggs if anyone has any they are willing to part with. I am in New England and am willing to drive a little to get them.
Or can anyone recommend a breeder/hatchery that has good stock?

She is VERY fluffy. I don't think she's TOO skinny, but she is a little more toward the thin side than my other pullets. My 2yo sexlink behind her in the background is getting pretty chunky. lol. She is lower on the pecking order, but I am sure she gets plenty to eat. And she's been laying pretty regularly. At least I think it's her. I woud say the egg is a medium sized, medium brown. I guess I won't worry about it. Either there's a hatchery working on bantam averolles (I thinkt hat's likely since I did get her from teh bantam bin!) or she is a runt LF.

Either way we love her! She's such a sweetie! Out of all of my pullets, she and one of my EE's are the only 2 that not only come running when they see me walking towards them, but also squat to let me pick them up.

Hi Wendy! Your Bonnie is a cutie! Your flock (from what I can see in your picture) looks like my layer flock - "I'll have one of everything please." Chickens make great yard art, lol.

Thanks! Yes! I have a sultan, a Polish cross if some kind, 3EE's, my faverolle, 2 unknown bantams (I think they may be Blue Andalusians! How crazy is that??? I have an egg in lockdown, so hopefully we'll find out for sure soon! My roo is black, my pullet is splash.) and my older red sexlink. Our LF roo Bob is new, but he is a cool looking mixed breed. Orange and gray barring all over.

I have had a lot of eggs hatching the last few days. FBCM's, Penedesencas, BBS Ameraucanas, blue orps. My bantam egg from my own flock (pre-Bob, so def fertilized by Darth Vader) and some hatch bantam Marans should start next.

I need to work on building some separate pens. I need to put a new roof on that old barn in the background of my pic. It's a nice solid building, but the old tin roof is leaking badly. Then I can easily put in some separate areas. I definitely need to separate my bantams. Bob almost killed Darth Vader, and I'm afraid he's going to crush one of my bantams one of these days. He's a huge roo for his age--5mos, but he especially likes my tiny splash bantam pullet, who only weighs 1.5lbs!!! And Darth isn't very happy about it. Or Bonnie. Bonnie is his favorite pullet. lol
