Thanks Jeanine, My pair of Mahoganys came from Sandhill and i have 4 more coming this year for the same reason...i too only received a partial group.

2 other folks closer to you are Patty-thechickonthehill in Kentucky??? and Paula from Buck Creek Chickens, Wisconsin. They are both here on the Fav. list and think there is a chance that Patty may be interested. Haven't spoken with Paula for awhile.

I ordered some Faverolles one year and all were normal looking except for one hen, she was completely white, Whats that about???
hmm.png

I had a pair of bantam salmons and their chicks looked like salmons when they went to their new homes, and then a couple of them turned white with their first molt. Not pure, pure white, they had a slight salmon haze to them, but there must have been white in their background somewhere.

OK, I need input for the judges for the Western National (I got the scoop before the show catalog came out).

The options are:

Jamie Matts (New York)
Paul Weiser (Washington)
Danny Williamson (Kansas)

The only one of them that I have any experience with is Jamie Matts. I think he's very nice, and he knows his stuff, BUT I don't know how I feel about a Cochin guy judging the Favs...

Any thoughts from anyone??

I don't know the other judges, but when you think about it, cochins has a lot of similar features to favs - meat birds, feathered legs, patterned feathers, lots of fluff, even the beards. There's a whole lot going on with both breeds. Jamie's a fair judge, and a super nice guy. A friend of mine said he thinks Danny Williamson raised Brahmas, which are also similar.

Would anyone be interested in Mahogany Faverolles from Sandhill?

I don't think I want to work with these guys, but thought I'd see if any of BYC friends wanted them before considering them dinner.

I waited for 2 years and finally last year they sent 3 of my 10 but weren't able to send the rest because of storms wiping out so many of their breeders so all I got was the 3. I have one female and 2 males. One male doesn't have as nice of toe separation, but he was the friendlier of the 2 so I kept them both. Someone looking for a project maybe?

I can not ship, I am in Hanford, California and I'm not NPIP. I will try to get pics as soon as we dry out....all wet from a downpour yesterday.

Wish I was a tad bit closer and I'd be tempted. Somehow I don't think I could talk my husband into a road trip to California though, lol.

Does the male have lacing on his chest? It's hard to tell from the pictures.
