Faverolles Thread

Never thought of raising Favorelles. And was suppose to receive eggs from Dick Boulanger and to get them to a friend who was at the Greenville Ohio Poultry Show this weekend. Dick sent them for $31 to my address last Tuesday priority, and they just arrived today. My friend is a Canadian who knows who has good birds and totally understood that neither Dick nor I were to blame for the USPS tardiness.
So, now I guess I am to see IF there are any of these eggs which are still fertile. I got 3 dozen to throw in an incubator and with any luck a few will have survived. Already have 250 plus eggs in my incubators of mostly Orps. And now Favs. Being so close to Ron Patterson, IF any hatch I guess I will be getting some birds from Ron to add to this new to me breed.

I have 19 Icelandic eggs developing out of 30+ that a friend in Virginia re-labeled and sent to me when he unexpectedly got some expensive eggs he had been waiting a long time for and had no room at the inn, they were in transit for more than a week.

At least it has not been very hot. And they should be no older then 2 weeks from being laid.

I don't think the Pontious family have any more LF Favorelles anymore. They have the Blue Salmon and Salmon Faverolle Bantams.

I hatched out two Salmon Fav bantam cockerals...pretty but was hoping for pullets. I will have to try again!

When I contacted her last, about 3 years ago, she gave me 2 names of people who had their line. One was yours and I've forgotten the other. Have you asked Gayle to whom they sold their flocks? Maybe that person (or people) still have them.

Sorry to barge on here, but I am planning on ordering some Salmon Faverolles, and want to know from you FVerolle Experts where the best place to get some would be. I am going in on an order with a friend who wants to have a hertage breed , as do I and we settled on theese, they have always been on my wish list, I am so excited! Since we will be breeding them to carry on the breed we want to start with good stock. do you have any suggestions? She found some on purely poultrys website, I had never heard of them, and am well aware of hatchery quality being lacking sometimes, but thought I.would check. Thank You!
