What makes the hen a mahogany? The darker head feathers?

Good pictures Dick and all. Picked up my male that I hatched from Peter. I had two choices. I chose the one with a less full beard, good comb, and good color. The other male had a very full beard, less desirable color, and worse toes. Oh well we will see what I end up with. Only have pictures of the male I left at the farm. I will have to take some of the boy that is in the with the hens now. I may go back and trade males eventually. We will see. I also liked the tighter wing set on the male I brought home. Will try and snap a few photos later for comparison.









Overall though I am happy with what I have to choose from for only having hatched 5 or 6 chicks! Both these males should make pretty good breeders. Also check out my old bantams in the back ground. Gave them to my friend a while back.

It"s the breeding. That pullet is light, I have some darker ones. The parents were a dark salmom male mated to a mahogany hen and a few other dark hens. Pictures of the parent are on the Faverolles Fanciers of America web site. I believe it's Blueberry Hill????? in Kentucky. After seeing the pictures of her birds, she was kind enough to do a special breeding for me which I greatly appreciated. She has pictures of her males in one album and pictures of her hens in another. Take a look.

It"s the breeding. That pullet is light, I have some darker ones. The parents were a dark salmom male mated to a mahogany hen and a few other dark hens. Hey Dick I put my mahogany roo with a light and a very dark salmon hen. Just want to see what I get. Would love to see a salmon roo with mahogany's tail color.

No luck. Didn't find a Blueberry Hill in the photo gallery. Found a picture labeled Mahogany in the Comer's Poultry page but it was very small and pixelated something awful when expanded in the slide show.

these are all pullet shots, there are 2 F1s, LF RC white Dorking x Fav, which you can see in shots 2 & 3 (she is the one flapping in 2, and they are the featured birds in 3) I could not get a good shot of them this day as it had rained for 3 days and they were excited to finally be let out! Both F1s have beards and feathered feet
