Faverolles Thread

All,
It's identical to the pullett in every way except coloring. Muff, beard, five toes, smaller comb, shorter tail feathers. I have been raising chickens for some time and am fairly educated, so I'm reasonably certain its a faverolles. Could it be mahogany?

all of my mahogany chicks feathered in brown/red at that age when I had them... doesn't look like it has red or brown (assuming I am looking at the right one)

I am not willing to chime in without another pic of the face please. I do think this looks like an 'off' cockerel from what I can see. I would be interested in seeing a frontal pic for sure or a nice horizontal pic.

So... I am coming to the Congress. I feel a bit like a school girl going to a concert. I spoke for a little while with a judge out of Maine and am amazed at who is going to be at this show. Will I be able to find any of you Saturday?

easiest way is to look for Dick, we will all be near him if we can find him LOL

Here's the Chick X:

Here's Chick X again, with Salmon pullet in background:

Finally, the Salmon pullett again.

In case it wasn't clear, these all came from the same breeder, all hatched at the same time. From Boulanger and Buffington lines...
Thanks again!

Oh yes, feathered legs. Thanks again for all the input. I'll try and post more pictures.

I may have had a few poor colored fellas from my pullet breeding pen look kinda like this last year, most had very poor coloring on their back and wings (tasted fine though)... hard to tell without seeing the breast area, but it looked familiar when I gave it another look

We will probably all be hanging out together. I will be wearing a blue sweatshirt with a picture of three faverolles hens across the front. I am a young guy with black hair just come up and introduce yourself and I can introduce you to most of the rest of the crew as I have met many of them.

Actually looks a lot like how my boys looked for a minute... I was very concerned for a bit, because they looked so odd, and neither reached maturity until they were 8 months old...

Started out like your boy.... I was pretty sure the slower developing boy might be a girl at first, just wrong in the color, Kinda like how Derparella turned out.... But nope... This is how they continued to progress...

Give him a chance, he just may be slower going, but I think my boys turned out beautiful in the end. They are 10 months now.

...and I will be the gal w/ the tall, cute but bored, skinny hippy guy (my husband) and wearing peacock feather earrings

Looks like a salmon cockerel to me. Some males can be very "messy" at a young age. You should wait another 6 months or so to see how he looks after his molt.

He's only just started crowing too with in the last month. I have never had a cockerel take so long to crow! I gave his brother to my good friend cuz her cockerel was so poor in looks that she didn't want to breed him. He was hadn't crowed yet when I gave him up either. But as you could see, both boys turned out lovely.
