Faverolles Thread

Crazyhen, where are you located on the east coast? There are several of us out here with birds and eggs for sale of varying quality and price, if you let us know where you are im almost positive we can set you up with someone. I'm in Maine, I have a couple of hatchery quality (but not total crap for all that) hens I could sell, and will have started pullets as soon as this last batch hurries up and gets big! We hatch every week, exclusively LF Faverolles, and while we do keep the SoP in mind when breeding, im more concerned about the "economics" of the bird for a small farm, I.e. vigor, production, and carcass quality over color. there are at least three others in Maine working with the breed, several in MA, a few in NY, VT, all over the place. Once we know where you are we can try to put you in touch with someone local to you who may have birds for sale.

I am in NC. I have had one person contact me already. I want a pretty close to SOP bird if possible. I want to get eggs and hatch them myself. I want the LF salmon variety which lays the larger egg.

If you're looking for eggs, there are a LOT of hatching eggs for sale in the buy/sell/trade section of this site, from some VERY nice birds.

I know Dana Paul (Fancie Favie on here I think) has hatching eggs right now and one of her pullets recently did very well at a show. She has them on the Crazy New 24 Hour Auction thread

where is she or he from? I want someone on the EAST Coast Please. I have ordered from the west coast before and had horrible luck with hatching eggs. Sigh!

I posted in a different thread, but I thought you guys might be able to give me some advice on my SF chick. I am concerned that it is a boy, but i am not sure. My pics aren't the best, but it gives a general idea. I'm hoping pullet, but knowing my luck (out of 6 chicks from local feed store, 3 have been boys, and I am not sure about this one) it is probably a boy. Thanks for your help.

Hi there!

I think your chickie is a pullet, the color pattern is a little off, but there isn't any color or size in the comb, so I say it's a "she"

I responded to your original post, and I also think it's a pullet. Some of the hatchery pullets are rather messy color-wise.

I am getting some LF SF eggs from a lady in Jupiter, FL. Her kids have been raising them for 4-H and have won prizes for them. If you are interested in getting some, PM me.
