Chickn (aka Wendy) had some in my area during a swap back in May. i'm going to check with her to see if she is still breeding them and will have more chicks next spring. her's are very nice and seem to be of good breeding.

Wendy still has her faverolles. Poultry Run Farm in Maine also has very nice bantam birds. Sometimes they head down to the NH swaps, or you can find them at the Oxford or Augusta swaps.

I think it is Tyler Danke. I don't know enough about him or his Faverolles to make a judgement but an old fart like me, I'd stick with good breeders that have the Faverolles in mind rather than running it like a poultry hatchery show. Similar to Superior Farms.

I remember him from the old BYC and he seemed to be a nice kid!

Nope, those were ones she had hatched this spring. She definitely still has her breeders. I don't think she has the pair left now though.​

I contacted her I think she only has 2 pairs of them and she offered me the younger pair but said she wouldn't ship. I might have the wrong person though.

it might be the time of year. i know that she is the one that helps to set up our swaps in the New England area. i think she's gone to some of the shows in Mass during the year. she so close to the southern NH border that those are easy for her to get to.

as for Purely Poultry, i know that the owner is on BYC and has his own thread. it is also interesting that i just found 2 other hatcheries carrying bantam favs too. the other is Stromberg's for the same quantity and cost. the other is S&C Birds & Farm Animals out of Ohio. they seem to carry mostly heritage bantam breeds like the dorkings, houdans and a few other breeds.

i also found an old link for someone that had been breeding the colored faverolles. http://www.backyardpoultrymag.com/breeders_directory.html Comer's Poultry out of Ohio again. i'm going to email and see if i can get a hold of them to be sure.

Stromsberg is like a hatchery...I would avoid them if you want quality Faverolles. I dont know about S&C Birds because it is unknown to me. I fyou want hatchery stock, by all means, go for it but be expected to get less than ideal type of Faverolles. They are in it for the monetary gain and can produce as much as they can.

A good rule of thumb getting quality Faverolles is to buy them from reputable breeders that has been in the breed for a good while.

even if they marked them as 'exhibition quality' you wouldn't consider them something to check out for someone that is new to the breed or owning chickens? i don't plan on ordering them, but it is nice to see that it looks like they may be offered for those that are just trying them out and eventually working with them.

i personally haven't had the greatest luck with using an incubator my first year and those i did hatch on my own i ended up with A LOT of cockerels. now that i have a few hens that are showing they may go broody for me i'm going to save myself the electric bill, disappointment of loosing eggs/chicks, and allow the hen(s) to do all the work.
