Faverolles Thread

Thanks so much for all the responses! I have had so much fun with these guys, they are all so sweet! And so much fun to watch! My little Bernice was the runt, I had to separate her from the rest and hand feed her when she was a chick. She's still only about a third of the size of the others, but she's feisty! They are all very bonded, but she doesn't just want to be near me,she wants to be ON me! My lap, shoulder, whatever. ....I'm like her personal jungle gym

When I get more chicks in the next year or two I'm definitely getting more faverolles, they are so cute and just have the best personalities! I can't wait to start getting eggs, although I must admit that I think I might be the most paranoid chicken owner ever, and reading about all the things that could go wrong scares the life out of me!

I think I read too much!

Great! Thanks so much. I suppose things would be less complicated if she's not a roo.

I never realized how difficult chickens are to take pictures of, my girls don't like the flash!

def pullets. if anyone is into creating blacks the 2nd pullet would be GREAT for that. even if to cross her into a blk program for more fav type, she would be good to do that with.

canadian favs... not heard of anyone doing them in canada in a good long while. Dick, you know of anyone?

peter

Not to my knowledge. I sent some eggs through there to a man named Terry Wheeler quite a few years ago but they were large salmons.

Congats on your new babies! Hope they do well for you. They will probably be thrilled with you since you were the one who let them out after 4 days of travel!

Well, I will hopefully be hearing from a Craigslist person tonight about a couple of broody hens- not Favs, just a buff Orp and a LF blue cochin but they are big so perhaps they will be able to hatch out 10+ chicks. I will be setting them up in their own separate bunny hutches w/ a straw filled nest box w/ golf ball "eggs" for now... hopefully they will settle in quick and resume their broody behavior right away so I can order some hatching eggs. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
