Thanks for the advice I will use that and chick bands to tell the birds apart although it is a year or more away we need to keep the lavender splits out of normals black lines also.

Thats great congratulations hope you get a nice breeder boy. The chick I thought was a blue salmon rooster has turned into a blue salmon pullet all of the sudden she has good toes and a huge beard and I am excited to see how she turns out.

Setting every egg they lay
Can't wait for the splash girls to start laying probably won't happen till the end of summer and then it will be to late to hatch but hopefully I get some nice blues and blacks from the two batches I will set while Cindy's birds are here. Then I will save all the black hens eggs and do a salmon hatch along with those after I get the cockerel from you.
Hi all, Just wanted to drop by and say that I am now the proud momma of 5 salmon faverolle pullet chicks and 2 roo's...I ordered them after seeing all the pictures on this thread, and thought they are just the most beautiful birds. sadly one of the roo's will have to be re-homed down the road, I order 2 just to make sure 1 would survive. I think the roo's are just gorgeous! All the babies are drinking, eating, and running around, so all looks good at this time. It's a great day!
Just set 9 BBS bantam eggs I think that there are probably about 3-4 from the black hen and 5-6 from the blue hen so hopefully I get a couple blues. Most will be fathered by the black rooster as he is the dominant boy in the pen. The blue boy does scoot in everyone once and a while but I am pretty sure he gets nocked off the girls almost every time as they are in a smaller pen. Wish me luck. My next hatch will hopefully be from eggs from another BYC member Nickolas's eggs the birds are supposed to be from imported british lines. Then I will set some of my own salmon eggs and black eggs after that and that will be my last hatch of the year and then the salmon and BBS flocks will combine and I will focus on making everything manageable for my parents while I am away so one grow out pen and one adult pen. By then the splash pullet should be in the adult flock as well.
