Faverolles Thread

How long does it take for salmon fav's to lighten up? Are they all born dark? I know the roo is much darker (more mahogany) and the pullets are still pretty dark with very little cream on them. They are about 3 months old. I'll try to get some pics tonight and post.

out of 12 eggs, 4 are left to hatch from what i could tell. 7 chicks out and unfortunately one crushed in the shell from a first time broody. but the chicks i could see look cute and puffy cheeked!

Looking for some faverolles, can anyone tell me where to look, hatching eggs are fine and prefered but chicks are good to, any size or color. thanks

if you don't mind me asking, how close are you to NH?

eta: oops! just noticed you are down in TX! not anywhere near me! if you can i would suggest going to Jamie McCallum for both sizes! i've seen some nice birds come from theirs and they are in Texarkana(sp?). http://www.mccallumsflock.com/bantamfaverolles.htm

I am not a huge fan of his birds but then again I have never owned any of them so its an opinion built on very little knowledge. If your interested in LF try pasofinofarm PM her on this site her website is www.nonesuchfarm.com she is in Texas and might even haves chicks for you. Dick might have some eggs not sure though. Mine won't be fertile for a few weeks and I don't know how well the girls will be laying then.

That's because it's www.nonesuchfarm.net not .com... I also recommend their birds over McCallum's, I've had both, and don't care a great deal for the females from McCallums. nonesuchfarm.net's owner is also pasofinofarm on here...

I've also had MUCH better hatch rates from nonesuchfarm...

I think nonesuch's birds are must better and I agree about MacCallum's females even in some of there adds there arfe pictures or very strange dark females and some birds with very small beards. That is just what I have seen. I recommend Nonesuch and had a very good hatch from them wish I had room to keep them!

thanks folks! i couldn't remember who else was down in the TX area with favs! i didn't have luck with the eggs i got from McCallums but i think it was the shipping that did them in. so i never got to see how any of the chicks would have ended up looking. what i've seen were other people's favs from them.
