Faverolles Thread

From what I can see from the photos these may be breeding rejects very beautiful birds but not breeders I could be wrong though. If one black hen has no 5th toe and the white pullet has a fused 5th toes (I can see it in the picture) They are very handsome birds but they shouldn't have offspring sold as anything but mixed faverolles. If your wanting them for pets keep the one rooster with the best personality. The white rooster is the one on the right in the photo.

You got those birds from AL Carrington, I bring him all the birds I don't want to keep. The whites came from large blues. If you end up breeding them together I would be interested to see how the chicks come out. You could get some large blacks or blues. The buff colored one is a bantam. I have a black male on a buff female, another experiment.

Al will be getting more of my birds soon.

Oh thats cool I new you were the only one with cool colored favs but forgot you had told me about someone taking your extras. I like those whites it doesn't look like they have yellow yet in there feathers.

These are some of my culls. Here's a story you might like to hear. Years ago I gave my friend Eddie some of my bantam salmon culls. This is when I was working on the bantam buff Faverolles. In the beginning the cross was throwing salmon young. I didn't want them because they were carrying the buff gene. Eddie wasn't showing at the time, he just wanted them for his backyard. He started going to shows with me then deciced he wanted to start showing. He hatched some chicks from my culls. We went to a show in Virginia and with one of the pullets from my culls he got Champion Faverolles and she went on to win Reserve Featherleg. It was a Faverolles National and a Cochin National. The Cochin National had about 300 birds there, in Faverolles we had about 50 birds. Eddie's pullet didn't get Champion Featherleg because of one frayed feather that was on her. They couldn't find anything else wrong between these two birds. Sometimes you could be surprised by what you can get out of your culls.

Yes they are. That's where red will replace black on a salmom Faverolles male. A few years back I took one from Eddie and had planned on doing an experimental breeding with him:p like I needed another project. It never got off the ground, to many projects going and not enough room:he

Thats pretty interesting I know when ever I sell birds I always ask myself if I am going to regret selling them but you can't keep everything forever especially in a setup like mine.

So are the silver gene or something else? Did you keep any? I guess they would produce something weird and introduce some strange genes into your white line if you used them. They are very pretty though.

Yes, and you'll get to see them when you come up. I'm picking them up on the 27th.
