One of my salmon males. They need a lot of work, but it's a start.

The "Three Amigos". It would have been a perfect picture except the guy in back decided to shake his head.

Very pretty David! When I was breeding salmons would have loved to have a male like that. I always either had blue salmons males or a light male that ChickiesMoma has now. It may just be his body positioning but he seems to have nice wing set not as droopy as other bantam males I have seen.

Well, both the pictures are of my large fowl but my bantam salmons have okay wing carriage as well.

Hello again, I need a little help..I purchased 5 salmon faverolle chicks 4 weeks ago, and had asked about how to tell the difference in colors, and everyone was great in explaining that, however I have one chick that has black and salmon feathers growing, but not nearly like my little roo..he's very dark and has started to develop his little comb and the red around his beak (wattle?) anyway this other little chick dosen't have that at all, so I'm wondering if she's a she or a he? These are hatchery chicks so I'm not expecting them to be great in coloring, but was just curious if a salmon faverolle pullet can have reddish feathers and black and still be a pullet?

Thanks for helping a newbie!!!!

if you have a pic that sometimes will help us out. but many times we've seen hatchery chicks/adults they tend to have a lot of red and black feathers on the pullets/hens, Ideal seems to have this issue a lot. a good way to check to be sure is the foot feathering. i think at 4 weeks of age you would be able to see light colored leg/foot feathers and that would be your pullet. the cockerel would have black foot/leg feathers coming in. also, how quickly they have been feathering in, if by the second and third week they are showing the full wing and the shoulder feathers that is usually a pullet. males take longer to get feathers in in both bantam and LF.

Chickie'sMoma- Would you mind taking a look at the pic of my Faverolles hen on page 329 of this thread? Would her color be considered mahogany? I can't seem to find a picture of a mahogany fav to use for comparison. Thanks!
