Is anyone here going to the chickenstock swap in Townsend MA on July 18th??? I am looking to purchase some more faverolles and was wondering if anyone was going to have any there for sale?

Thank,
Dawn

need to start saving now if I want to fly home and then drive over or if my Dad drives the birds out and I fly out. I also need to build some show conditioning pens this summer or winter. I think I will do it this winter.

Thought I would let you know, that I now have 4 beautiful Faverolles. I even got one roo. I can tell that the muff/beard is going to be something else. I have a friend that I am going to let have a couple of girls, and the roo. She would like to get some Faverolles started around here.
They truly are beautiful. Thank you so much for your posting back with my questions, and making things work out in the beginning.
I can hardly wait to see what my little girl will look like, and the rooster that my friend will have. They were a week old yesterday.

Thats great Peter! I just had a another bantam blue hatch hoping for a few more and maybe 2 or 3 salmon bantams. I am praying for a nice blue rooster and a nice black rooster from the 10 I have now! My black male has flogged me 5 times today. I though after a few "corrections" he would calm down but no. I want to keep him to breed but that attitude is so un faverolles like in my mind. So looks like he has to go. I thought maybe it had something to do with my shoes the first and second time. But the third time he ran away from me then when I turned my back to get something out of the shed he rushed me and scratched and spurred at the back of my legs.

Henry i'm just rollin on this. "so un faverolles". Well usually.. but one does get something going with a male bird sometimes. here's my advice for the time you need him. ignore the attacks just keep going. make sure your dressed for the occasion though. if you respond they are always all to happy to respond right back. if he is with females give him a break..doin something with his girls perhaps? even just too close? if you wait till you build some seperate pens you might find him better to deal with in one of those until u need to breed him again, then w same precautions. try it.

The problems is my setup it does seem to be something between me and him not an anithuman thing. Here living in the suburbs I move all of my male birds from there pens at night to special sleeping houses where the spend the late night and early morning. He is usually very unhappy! But I just can't have my neighbors being woken at 3 and 4 am. I will watch how he interacts with others over the next few days. The problem is I do really need him he is from Leisha's blacks and I want to take him over my splash pullets next spring. I think that its a good idea to move him to my chicken tractor until I need to breed him again. We will see the problem is he will be spending the fall and winter and also early spring with my parents caring for him so we will see. I am going to cool down for a while and then decide on a plan of action. Another problem is I let my birds free range and the hens are super friendly and food motivated so of course he follows his girlsfriends and then ends up standing right in front of me and attacks. I will give him a week and see what happens he is valuable to me as he is from different parentage then my blues and splashes.

Something has made him unhappy. What has changed in the last few days? it could be the littliest thing. Is this the first he has done this? Give the poor guy a break. LOL
