Faverolles Thread

Thanks everyone for the get well wishes. I now have 2 months to be recooperating. Enjoying what I like to do. The chickens are going to get sick of me, but lots of things to do. One is get ready for the Fav National.
Since, I had a radiation treatment to my head, I have to watch the swelling for 2 months. My head hurts a little from where I had the halo screwed into my head, but that will go away soon.

Peter, here's hoping your next hatch will be better for you!

my 8 little piranhas....er...chicks have been loving the time away from their hatching mom and seem to know who really supplies the goodies! they loved the black raspberries i gave them a couple of weeks ago and lately i've been giving them some little pieces of cheese! they just need to stop snapping at my finger tips when i don't have any left!

when they see me coming by the aquarium i'm using as a brooder they come charging over to see if i have treats!

Mosey certainly produces a beautiful pullet! i need to get a pic to show how well she is bearded and muffed! she has promising foot fluff and nice personality like her dad! i just hope her earlobes turn fully red. Mosey has slightly enameled lobes and i'm hoping what Peter or Dick mentioned about that color possibly changing as they age would be right! she certainly is noticeably different from Apollo's chicks! nice wide head, 5th toe on one foot could be a little better, nice stance too!

Peter, when you mention putting a light roo over dark hens do you mean the hen's color would be dark all over her body with no cream on her breast area? or are you talking about the back/wings being a darker color than what is the norm and the breast is the cream color?

Well, at least you have four whites. I'm hoping to post pictures of the lav Fav project parents. I hatched 43 chicks from them. I won't be keeping them all. I'm seeing salmon leaking through the black with the salmon lav chicks and for the lavender Faverolles those chicks are staying black. I'm waiting for them to feather out more. In a few weeks I should be able to post pictures of them.

The whites are bantams right. I have 3 silver white pullets, 2 white cockerels and 2 white pullets with a little bit of salmon on their heads.

Here are a couple group pictures of the boys I took this evening. I tried to get some individual ones but they weren't cooperating. Maybe tomorrow. I'll try to get some of the girls too.

I'm interested in who else might be working on Lavender Salmon Faverolles- I'm getting going on bantams just recently.

I have all sorts of Lavender projects going 3 different breeds to use for Lav source. It's just addictive!

I know Henry is, plus Dick and maybe Peter.

I may end up with some LF lav salmons, since I have the Ermine project using a Coronation Sussex roo.

Woo hoo!! Chicken math at it's best. So I'm gettin some birds from Leisha. My original plan was to get maybe a trio. Well she sweet talked me (wink-wink - it wasn't hard at all) into 2 trios. A cockerell line and a pullet line. So if my math is correct I'm actually only getting like 2 birds right? Since you have to be able to hatch both then I technically need them all just to be able to effectively raise these birds, right? Heehee. I love it. Can't wait!!!
