I still get that out of some of my blacks with no beards.

Has it been 7 yrs or longer? since the inception? or are these what would have been created from what Dick and I both started?
peter

It has been only 5 years. They are from you guys and Mike Stapish

You bet ya. I have the pullets with nice big heads, but I wish I could get the cockerels down in size a little bit.

Leisha these pullets are the best! I got one beardless pullet and one with no leg feathering when I hatched but that's to be expected I think. Can't imagine what they would have looked like without the hard work Dick and Peter put into them.

They are far enough out that you could call them mine.

They have been sold

Since I lost the chicks I needed a rooster that wasn't a full sibling to my splashes and I took the opportunity to get some more hens to

But I am plotting how to get them up to VT after thanksgiving I am thinking about renting a stall or putting it on the south side of the schools dairy barn. Or having them build me a nice coop on top of the dorm because my dorm already has bee's and a garden on the roof why not chickens?

Henry... I have to say that I absolutely LOVE your enthusiasm. Reading your posts and seeing how much you love raising your birds always puts a smile on my face (I'm smiling as I type!). I sure hope you will be able to keep in touch via byc when you are off at school and I can totally see you building a coop on the roof of your dorm! GO HENRY GO!

I like the type. As bantams keep your eye on how the male carries his wing. I have some where the wing comes down at an angle and goes pass the butt of the bird. The wings on your male should be horizontal and look short. Not saying that the wing is short but the wing is carried more forward in turn giving the bird a flatter back. I have some where the wings come down at an angle and so does the back giving the bird a taller effect. I have the same problem in my bantams. How to correct it...........time. Most of the hens will have horizontal wings. Watch how far back they go, is the lenth of the primary feathers extend to their butt? You need to hatch a lot and cull hard. Pick your hens with the shortest lenth. It's a long process. I had it in my bantams years ago, but when I started breeding the large Faverolles I lost site of the bantams and for years didn't hatch many. Now I'm trying to get back there. Hatched 17 bantam salmons and only ended up with 4 males. After they moult I need to look over the females with a hard eye on their wing lenth. We'll see how many I keep.
