Faverolles Thread

Very pretty bantams! Does the hen have a rose comb? I have found that Rose takes a while to answer emails. Ron Patterson and Dick have good LF and will probably have some for sale in the spring. Rose's LF flock was killed by predators and last I talked to her she was rebuilding it.

Thanks Henry - no, she has a straight comb. I had to take like twenty pics of them to get these few - the others were all blurry. I'm very excited to have them! Are they close to standard? I'm still learning. Where's the "Favs for Dummies" book?

Dick wrote me back and said that he was planning on having pullets available next season - I assume that means the spring? Ron never wrote me back. I guess Rose will not have anything until next spring, either. (Big sigh) Guess I will have to wait until then to get some...

I say almost ALL of mine are sweet birds! And they are beautiful. No wonder the French called the Faverolles the "poodles" of the chicken breed!

Ok, who said another Roo won't do~~~ lol lol lol OMW!! they R just a beautiful sight to behold. Oh my. I may have to convert my horse barn into a massive chicken coop. LOL LOL

Unfortunately I think this is caused by something that can only be dealt with by breeding for resistance. I am not sure why it is affecting only the faverolle pullets, and to a lesser extent the fav cross pullets. Any girl that reaches laying stage is fine. The boys are fine. The Sussex pullets did not have this problem. I lost one silkie pullet but I think that was from heat.
