I'll be home within the hour and will report on how my hatch is doing..... If it's doing anything else. Since a few of you are waiting with bated breath and on pin and needles for these hatch reports! Hahahah.

Glad to hear some of them are still plugging along.

I have been doing some checking into different breeds of chickens and teh favs seem to be the best for the following reasons....
1. dual purpose
a. high quality meat
b. large percentage of dark meat
2. friendly
3. cute
4. cold hardy
5. easily sexed at a young age.
If this is accurate info, then why isn't this the most popular chicken of all?

Honestly, the one and only sortof negative thing I can say about Favs is that, from my experience with them, I think their egg size is small. My 1-2 year old LF birds are huge girls and they all lay a pullet size egg. So for someone wanting birds for eggs, this might not be a good choice. Also, please note that not all Fav's are easily sexed at a young age... just the Salmons, I think

They are very good birds! I think they are the best all around package of looks productivity and personality you can find in a chicken.
