Faverolles Thread

they look about the same as regular salmon on the outside feathers, the only difference is the under-fluff is a slightly different color. Keesmom would be able to tell you more about it. i haven't been paying much attention to the under-fluff on the few girls i hatched out and the one hen i have that i think might be considered blue salmon i haven't really checked her for color fluff even though she would let me.

i do know that the splash pullets would have washed out salmon and hardly any noticeable lacing.

I know Dick and I were talking about the genetic makeup of Faverolles. Some of the books I read have said there are different genes depending on bloodline IE "French Type" and "German Type" faverolles. Ours I think are mixed genes. But I know at one point it said Mahogany Silver Wheaten was the faverolles makeup.

Here is the picture of a Silver Wheaten Cubalya (found on this site)

I think here coloration reminds me of a Faverolles female.

That's neat Henry, if you want some 'donated' eggs, I'd be happy to send you some from my flock. Please keep in mind my lines are strong on blacks and blues, but nice spalsh too

I know my birds are a far cry from Dick, Peter's or anyone else, but I'd be happy to send what ever you would need to get "started".

Ah, me too! I've learned a lot about what to put in the next coop by having this one, like : timed pop-doors, central vacuum, radiant floor heating, central air conditioning, a full commercial kitchen, automatic sunbrellas, grooming room, hospital/quarantine area, walk-in incubator/broody room,...

Too funny! We should try to get together...I am smack dab in central Va. PM me if you like.!

I'm going to the Delmarva Show in March - that's sort of in the middle of us. I'm hoping to pick up a couple of birds there - not showing. It's March 5-6 in Harrington, DE. Google it and see how far it is from you. That'd be too fun to meet there!

General reply on that blue salmon female. GEORGEOUS. Please note she's not eat up with a bunch of "blue in her tail".

Misty, You have to remember how long we've had our flocks. Dick longer than me and i go into 20yrs with the new year. N your flock start (again, poor u) is fine.-)

peter
