I have 8 yr olds that still lay... It's not like their commercial birds with a life expectancy of 1 1/2 yrs.... I have a long time poultry judge friend that has a 14 yr old Game hen that still lays every day...

Breeding salmon to blue. That would work but I don't know if the blue would have the lacing. With the gene pool that hen has you could get a lot of differences with the chicks.
It would be interesting.

Well, it would be best to arrive at a decision on the color. What you have would produce blue/blk. There are some colors you can't get there from here no matter how typey the bird.... Salmon from there would just not be advisable. Blue or blk yes.
Peter

Well, I guess it won't be Blue Salmon if it isn't a good idea. Blue and Black are hard to come by, right? This is going to take a lot of thinking....

I still really enjoy looking at her even if I never use her in a project. She helps me not be so anxious about some Faverolle chicks.

Thanks for everyones advice.

Here are some baby pics of the new bunch of babies. The rest were camera shy.

Troublemaker of the lot - runs around crazy already, and comes complete with grey racing stripes. Haven't seen chipmunk type stripes on a fav chick before.

But before you know it they'll be going through the ugly, dinosaur stage.
