Faverolles Thread

Mine don't...at all. They are lucky if they get a foot off the ground when they are hopping / playing.

Oh no, I knew the boys weren't show quality. I don't know it would of just made me feel good if someone else thought my babies were pretty too.

Are you looking for someone to tell you they're SQ? Well, that's a tough thing to do via pictures, even for experienced breeders. I'm new to Favs and have a LOT to learn so I wouldn't presume to tell you one way or another. I will say these 2 things though:

1. YOU think they are pretty. What else matters? SQ/BQ/mutt - it doesn't matter if YOU enjoy them. Some of my favorites have been beautiful, will-never-happen-again mutts, including a spectacular blue-laced red EE at one point. SQ? NO. Gorgeous, YES!

2. They are very young. Keep them a few more months until they mature fully. It may make a big difference.

Forgot #3. Many of the experienced breeders are at Crossroads now and aren't able to post their input.

Sorry I am posting so much but, I am starting to get really excited about my little girl who is a boy. I have been so busy the last two weeks I haven't had time to just hang out with my birds. I did that today after I found out he is a boy. I can not believe how much new coloring he has gotten in the past to weeks. When he was born he looked almost just like the girls with a little Mahogany and a little blue here in there just enough to think he was a badly colored girl.

LOL!!!! but, today when I looked at him I couldn't believe all the mahogany on him and the new blue and black that is coming in. You can see the hackle and saddle feathers coming in. You can also see grey and black coming out in the tip of his tail. He has the cutest beard and muff. I know he has a lot of feathering out to do but, I can tell he is going to be absolutely beautiful. I can't believe he is a roo, I didn't even realize there were light colored Faverolle roos. I know he can never be show quality but, I don't care he is beautiful.

I am sure you have all figured out by now I am keeping my babies. Well the Splash roo and two girls. We are going to add on to the coop and I will just make sure we have enough room for them and all the other things we want to do. Thanks everyone for your help if ya'll hadn't pointed out he was a boy I would have made a mistake I would have really regretted.

Just a couple of questions though I still have the concern about the bantam fav size do you let yours free range. Doesn't them being so small make them a prime target for hawks. I so want them to be able to free range too.

Also does anyone have a pic of blue Faverolles? I think I am already looking forward to one or two blue hens. :0)

Thanks again everyone,
Michelle

I just posted these pictures on another thread but had to get them posted here, I just love these guys!! I just picked them up today from someone I know. I don't breed or show, my specialty is temperament-which is why I wanted a couple Faverolles. But can I hang out here anyway? I've also got Cochins and Silkies. These 2 are molting like crazy right now and are covered in pokey pin feathers. I can't wait to see how puffy they are after their molt is over. He's got sharp pinfeathers even coming out of his beard, it feels like he forgot to shave.
