Lost my Beautiful one eyed Salomon Faverolle hen today. My very First Faverolle ever, the one who really made me fall in love with her breed on my Birthday too! Today has been all around horrible but losing Molly was the Worst part of my Day. She wasn't even two, I miss her so much and I wasn't able to get fertile eggs out of her. R.I.P Molly I had other salmon Faverolle Gals but nothing Like Molly here will always be a void in my heart where molly was.
The New neighbor complained about my chickens even before they had moved in, saying the smelled and were loud. So i had to move my adult birds and clean up the Yard, did that the smell never came from my house it was coming from a neighboring property, any who in the process of moving the chickens I lost the hens due to stress. Molly was one of the non stressed chickens who was in with the other salmon faverolle girls we let her raise. she got sick and we had to bring her into quarantine, we found little mites crawling on her little brownish grey things she had a terrible cold that we tried to treat every way possible she was at a platue the mites were gone and her cold was better, but then we noticed she started curling her neck under her and flipping upside down sleeping with her butt in the air and her head tucked under. Needless to say she ended her battle around 6 am this morning. she was a fighter and very strong until the end. I think Stress from moving into a strange place without us being their 24/7, catching the chicken cold, and us having to take her away from her babies, well other hens we let her start raising when they were a couple months old Killed my poor Bird.
We lost the roof over our heads because of the freaking neighbor, I lost my only source of income in 4 years my breeding stock and we did nothing against the law, the birds were in great health, kept clean and in great condition all around happy. we did everything the city asked us to do and more by actually moving the whole flock, cleaning an already clean back yard ( tilled with lime, and re seeded even though the yard was fine) the cops came back 2 weeks later said we did more then what the city asked no fines. The smell was found to be Coming from a neighboring property who had been leaving garbage and dead carcusses next to the creek that ran behind our rental. Windsor the company that owns the rentals evicted us the same day the cops showed up to help us solve the problem. 4 other people renting from Windsor here in the culdisac have ducks but because we were the only ones with chickens we were blamed for the smell and noise and we are the only ones evicted even though they say nothing about having chickens or waterfowl in their contract agreement. I don't understand how one complaint from a person who hadn't even moved in yet could cause so much drama. I lost my only source of income, my beloved pets and the roof over mine and my children's head.
NOT Happy birthday to me, And May you rest in Chicken Heaven Molly Miss you Beautiful girl. I miss you more then words can say you were my Special Feathered baby.
