Faverolles Thread

Lucy, my Salmon Faverolle, went broody in March. Here she is with her first batch of foster babies, hatched mid April. She was a great Mom, and apparently, likes to be a Mom. She is broody again! We love her - she is our smallest hen, but is at the top of the pecking order with the flock, but has never pecked a person. I can lift her up to count eggs (she keeps acquiring extras) and she does not peck - she squeals her dissatisfaction. Great personality!

They sure do make great mommas!!

I purchased 5 Salmon Faverolles because they were the last ones left at local farm store i have really enjoyed their personalities and can't wait to get more. They get along great and hold their own with the cornish cross chickens i have.

When you said you had a SF / Lav Orp, I wondered if you got them from Laurel. :) I finally got to see her birds last weekend in person.

The cockerel was an extra she threw in with the others, how could I refuse? - I have 3 of Henry's boys (purebred) in the bunch I bought from her.... and a couple of his little pullets too.

So I think I may only have one cockerel in the 6 chicks that I have. The jury is still out, but I only see one that is getting black shoulder feathers. And the comb it getting bigger faster. What are the odds that I would only get 1 boy out of 6?

Let's hope!

Question for the experts: Could this bird be a Favorelle of some type? I was on another thread where someone was trying to ID it. I don't know enough, but it has a nice beard and the neck feathers make me wonder.

Looks like an Easter Egger to me! it's got a pea comb and green legs.

Just my observation because I have a few that look like this except in coloring.

Definitely possible. I had someone hatch 8/8 pullets this year. ;) That'd be perfect, because the 2 boys are completely separate lines!
