Favorite Chicken Breed?

In the heat, my legbars (Opal and cream) seems to do exceptionally well. They are agile, but very friendly if socialized early, blue eggs. And who doesn't love a chicken with a toupee!

The sweetest I ever had was a RIR (in the picture). But that was my first breed, so I was over the top affectionate with them from the start. So just goes to show you it is about the birds individual personality, and how they are raised sometimes more than the breed.

For production, I can say leghorns- but they are too loud for me (or at least mine is).

Depends on so many factors, but my all time fav cold hardy hen is the EE.
Australorp is a good producer but my experience is they are broody often.
Brahmas are hardy- egg production is sketchy after 3 years but, oh boy- I love that fluff!
Marans is my new focus. So far I find them hardy and good producers and great mothers. Males are less winter hardy with those big comb.
I had Bielefelders-reproductive health issues got them all after about 2 years.

My 2 favorites are ameraucanas and seramas. They are both really friendly, I love the muffs on the ameraucanas and the blue eggs, as well as the colors they come in. The seramas are very popular at shows, have hundreds of different colors, and are the worlds smallest breed

True Ameraucanas? I'm curious if they're friendlier than Americanas/Easter Eggers. The ones I get have always been a bit skittish.

It probably depends on how they are raised, and some of mine are a bit skittish but for the most part they are a really friendly breed

Cochins finally won me over. Held off for the longest as I don't want a broody bird and I don't love feathered feet (we get a bit of rain) but I took a chance on them and am happy so far.
I've tried various orpingtons, EEs, game birds. And while all had their perks, I love my little cochins. I'm not in it for eggs though. So no comments there. Plus I live in a warm climate. So I also cant attest to the cold hardiness. Especially the frizzles.

But c'mon- look how cute!

My 'true americuanas' are really outgoing! very curious, cuddly and patient. Definately the 'what are you doing? can I help? lets cuddle!, Im going to sit in your wheel barrel' type chickens. I have one black (Kraken), and two splash (Nova and Luna- micro tikes) from Myer hatchery.
