favorite chicken's eye stays closed at all times.

One of my hen has had trouble with her eye for a while. She never opens it. She shakes her head when I try to open it, but I did once. Her eye is a little bit red . Anyone know what could be wrong and how I can fix it? I can easily post pics if it will make it easier. Thanks

Have you tried gently washing the eye out she could have gotten something in there, dirt etc. you can also use neosporin w/o pain killer in and around her eye.. but I'd gently wash it out first to make sure theres nothing inside the eye.
